I walked in earlier in the night before they opened, and they made a reservation for me. I had a very warm welcome. The food looked beautiful and tasted fresh and delicious. The dishes came out at the perfect times. The staff all had smiles and seemed happy and were very accommodating by speaking English to me because although I try, I speak very little french. I had a wonderful evening and walked away happy and content.
Additionally: I stayed in town for 3 nights and ate here every night. I tried many dishes and they were constantly beautiful and each one was delicious. The staff was warm, welcoming, and always brought every dish at the right time, with a smile. They were a very important part of why I had such an unforgettable stay in Benyac-et-Cazenac. I wish I could stay longer.

I don't understand why I wasn't allowed to enjoy the main dining room also. Le verre de vin blanc was terrible..worse than the cheapest wines to be found in the States. Like vinegar. I have visited many parts of France in my life, so I am well-versed in French dining at most levels. I spoke to them in French, I asked if it was too late for lunch, and I ate quickly. I tried my best; I never want to be the ugly American, but in many visits to France, this was the first time I desperately wanted to leave during l'entrée and go...
Read moreIf you come to the Dordogne and are overwhelmed by al the offers of foie gras but you only want to try once, go to Le Petit Tonelle. Their foie gras mi-cuit is very good. Especially paired with a glass of champagne! The tuna (also with duck liver) is amazing too. We were quit full after our first and main course, so we canceled our third course (cheese) and one of the desserts. I ordered Eau de Vie instead. We would have appreciated if we were told then that we would be charged after cancelation. We had no idea this is normal, so were quit surprised when we went to pay our bill and we were charged for food that we did not receive. So, be mindful when you order a menu and be sure to be very hungry when visiting this restaurant. It was a great dinner, but we did feel a little like walking wallets instead of...
