Restaurant Maison Rouge — Restaurant in Strasbourg

Stopped by to have lunch on our way to Strasbourg at noon on a Friday. We were fortunate to arrive early right before they opened and get a table for four. The restaurant was full 15 minutes after they started. They serve traditional French cuisine. We tried the set menu with cream of leek as starter and skate fin (aile de raie) risotto as main course, and a la carte for beef tartar, fish (snapper) and black tiger prawn linguine. The cream of leek was so delicious but the portion was too small while the skate fin did not have much taste though it was well cooked. The snapper was very good and the beef tartar okay while the portion of the pasta was huge (estimated to be over 250g) to the stomach of an Asian girl. We had a fabulous evening, not least because of the excellent service which was warm, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is good too and the food was absolutely fantastic. Cela fait 5 ans que je n'étais plus venu, j'en avais gardé une bonne image et plutôt que d'emmener mon fils au fast-food je me suis dit que nous pourrions y retourner pour faire marcher le local et manger plus sainement sans rester trop longtemps à table. Nous avons été bien accueilli et rapidement servis pour les boissons pour le plat (un burger/frites et une assiette de frites), nous avons attendu 50mn entre le moment ou nous sommes arrivées et l'arrivée des plats. Je n'ai rien à dire sur l'amabilité du patron et des serveurs mais attendre 40mn entre la prise de commande et l'arrivée des plats, c'est trop long pour un samedi midi. Sinon le burger était bon, un petit bol de salade en plus comme le font souvent les autres restaurants serait appréciable. Visiblement d'après le patron il y avait un groupe et j'ai dû tomber dans le rush en venant à 13h, dommage pour moi.
