Came across this place by accident, hadn’t heard of it before. Immediately we were so surprised and impressed by the cute decorations, it’s very special inside. However, the owner lady is honestly quite rude and judging by other reviews on here, I think there is a common theme with rudeness towards English customers. When I ordered the vegetarian wok noodles, she asked if I wanted chicken with them (which I don’t, as I am vegetarian), so I politely declined and then she rolled her eyes at me and huffed loudly. To be fair, she came back soon after realising the miscommunication between us about what dish I wanted but still it is very rude to roll eyes/ huff at customers - we were so confused. She also practically snatched the plate out from under me as I was eating bread over it, fair enough if there is a language barrier but she literally just snatched it as I was using it. Having said this, my dad ordered the salmon dish and said it was the best meal he had the whole holiday. After reading other reviews it seems like we actually caught her on a good day. It is such a great place, we just wished the service and attitude matched it. It’s only saving grace is the way it looks, if not it would probably have closed down. We would go back again purely for the decoration and uniqueness, but just prepare for a cold attitude.

Awful experience. I'd heard about the 'character' of this place so I went along to check it out. I think it's basically trading on its reputation for 'character' which is in reality downright rudeness. When I arrived I asked if I could get a coffee, first I was told yes then this suddenly changed to no, as I was walking away I was called back just to be told no again. Then I was told yes again. I should have continued walking but I stupidly sat down and waited for my coffee. It wasn't good, bitter, lukewarm and with little packets of milk rather than fresh milk. To add to the overall bad experience I was then charged €5!!!!! I expect it to be more expensive on the slopes but not a complete rip off. The sooner this place closes the better, rip off culture at its worst and not good for the overall reputation of Chatel. There are so many other places to spend your money, go there instead.

Having made sure to reserve many days in advance, we arrived for our 13h00 table booking. After attempting for some time to flag someone down, we were informed that the table was still occupied. 15 minutes later, we were told to take our seats at the vacated table, which was still covered in the glasses and cutlery from the previous clients. There was a dog belonging to the restaurant that was barking so incessantly, much to the bemusement of everyone in the restaurant, that conversation was impossible. Eventually it was removed by the owner after we asked if we could be seated further away from it. Following that, after several unsuccessful requests for a menu, or to make an order, the owner arrived at out table and asked if we wanted anything. Before we could even respond, she turned away, cleared some nearby tables, and walked off. At 13h50 we walked out and left.

Whilst some might find it "quaint" to be treated like this by an eccentric owner, there is a limit. We had the rare opportunity to spend some time together as a couple, having arranged for a nanny for our kids for the day, and wanted to give the place a chance. Never again - no amount of promises of good food and an "experience" are worth such deplorable treatment of clients. In general the restaurant was in chaos, the staff overwhelmed and customers in various states of irritation.

Naturally by the time we left we were short of time and options, but were welcomed with impeccable service and wonderful food at Pomme de Pin in Lindarets.

Please PLEASE take your money and...

Nutty owner, way overpriced, decoration as if you are in a Christmas fairytale We stopped during skiing for a hot chocolate at about 11 in the morning. Babeth did not bother to recognize our arrival, waiter at the bar was fortunately very friendly. The hot chocolate and one coke arrived fairly promptly. While we were enjoying our refreshments we overheard Babeth speaking to guests who had an issue with their online payment. She was very rude to the guests. Moreover at the end of the "discussion" she turned her head towards us rolling her eyes as if the guests were nuts. Well, they were not. She was just as flexible as a lead door in solving the issue. When our bill arrived, EUR 19 I questioned the prices. The hot chocolate was EUR 5 + EUR 2 surcharge for the cream/Chantilly which clearly came from a spray can (as opposed to real whipped cream). Compared to the EUR 4.5 -5 you pay at other places in the mountains around, grossly overpriced. Then we checked the menu. Very very expensive for what is on offer. I would go to the neighbors if I were you. There are plenty other places close by that you...
