La Folie Des Neiges — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

This restaurant is located directly aside the chairlift coming from the biggest parking. The main building is slightly smaller than some other restaurants around, so it is often full during the ski season (always a good sign!). If you want to have some place, you can book in advance, or go before 12:00, or go after 14:00.

The menu is more varied than in the other restaurants around. Yes, you will find the local specialties with lots of cheese and ham-things, but you can also find other dishes like salads, burgers or soups. If you want to go slightly crazy you could also finish your meal with a “champagne gourmand”, that is a mix of various mini-desserts and a glass of champagne.

As the meals are more elaborate than in the other restaurants, the prices are logically also a bit higher (this is no self!) so it all comes down to your budget.

It is decorated so that it looks like it will be good. The menu is priced so that it should be good. Unfortunately it is very not good... Dry, unpleasant food, worse quality than the self service restaurants, the difference is you pay more and they bring it to you. The food is pre-prepared and reheated and tastes terrible. Great spot all-day long... perfect for breakfast as it's the first terrasse getting the sun. Then lunch is really nice (recommend the burger with homemade fries, also the roast pork is amazing. Tiramitsu is awesome). They also do happy hour from 3.30pm - for a last drink, still in the sun 🌞. Staff is lovely, owners pretty chilled... Definitely a great...
