So, a lot of love for this place but we turned up to our lodge and we were greeted with a broken cupboard door from one of the bathrooms sat on the dining table, screws pointing out much to the curiosity if our four year old. Seven year old took a shower in same bathroom and slightly flooded it because the shower door was broken and she hadn't noticed. Wife took a shower and the handle that enables you to raise and lower the shower head had been ripped off. Clearly the family before us didn't like bathrooms.
To the credit of the staff, the maintenance team were in the lodge before I got back from reporting it to reception. Another housekeeping member turned up randomly with a chopping board for which we had no need. In hindsight I think there was some lost in translation of 'cupboard door' and the reading if my handwriting.
Only 3 stars this year, it is our third, really because the broken cupboard door staring at you from the dining table as you walked into the lodge was pretty poor form. The other faults whilst cleaning and tidying would not have been easily noticed until you used them.
Credit to the team for rectifying so quickly. They were massively apologetic.
I have normally given 5 stars.
Oh and the pool renovation has overrun so we can't use it, but we have complete free access to Villages Natures next door, (Center Parcs) as compensation and it is an awesome resort and pool - so credit for this...
Read moreNice food for those who can eat anything. For those of us who have to avoid certain foods these are not catered for well and allergens are not marked on the dishes. Same in all the Disney restaurants and it isn't good enough. Many people with food intolerances/allergies do not want to draw excessive attention to this so when you have to ask what is in each dish it turns eating out into a nightmare - especially when you speak different languages. I was told I had a choice of 3 main dishes in order to avoid dairy and being ill - bean chilli, boiled rice and vegetables. Salad bar provided a starter and dessert was fruit. Really not good enough for price paid. I would give one star for my experience but my family who can eat anything would give 5 stars as the foid for then was brilliant. I have given 3 stars as an average for our whole family experience. Please improve things for Vegan and people who need to avoid...
Read moreSome delicious food with a variety of tasty dishes. BBQ outdoors on some nights too, but when not there is BBQ cooked inside. The beef stew is a personal favourite, but so are the ribs and chicken pieces. There’s also succulent fish goujons made from lemon sole. Deserts are very tasty as well, from mixed fruits, cakes, tarts and brownies. Lots to choose from! If you’re a vegetarian there’s some good options too, and the salad area has a large variety.
The staff are really lovely people, very friendly and guest conscious too. They’re very helpful and I’ve always found that they’ll go out of their way to find out information (such as if you have uncommon allergies).
The atmosphere is great, with music themed around the old Wild West playing in the background - not too loud but in the background so it doesn’t interrupt any conversations. The restaurants theming is great too and in keeping with the Davy...
