La Source — Restaurant in Toulon

My sister and bil watched the kids so we could have a nice romantic dinner on the beach. We arrived right on time and the host walked us out to the beachfront so we could choose our table. We sat a couple feet away from the water. Our waiter took our order and food came out pretty quick. We got:

Assiette des tapas: 3/5 the menu made this seem like a special appetizer but turned out to be fried American sampler platter onion rings, chicken tender, mozzarella sticks and fried bean ball. Skip this if you live in the states.

Pave de saumon: 5/5 wow this was excellent! Loved the panko crust and flavor of the salmon. The rice and veggies were great compliments to the fish. Sauce was a little sweet. Highly recommend this entree.

Parilada de la mer: 4/5 hubby said this was good but not great. Thick piece of tuna, octopus and salmon. My salmon was better.

Mojito and beer: the mojito tasted a bit weird but I liked the gummies.

Excellent friendly service, really beautiful views, and a menu selection filled with pretty healthy food and something for everyone. We had pad Thai with salmon for our kids, a poke bowl with tons of fresh salmon, and beautiful avocado and veggies, and a steak. The coupe colonel loaded with whipped cream was the perfect ending to a perfectly relaxing lunch.

The only things I didn’t like were that my poke bowl rice was made with some type of basmati maybe but should have been made with a short grain Japanese rice. And the pad Thai was a bit too sweet, but when everything else about the place was so enjoyable it’s hard to pick on one or two tiny details like that.

I was there monday morning around 2 pm. Not bussy at all but there was no one to welcome us. I found my own seat and waited over 5 mins then I found my own menu from other table which was dirty and wet. There was only 1 waiter working outside I think they are understaffed. Then I had one of the worst mojitos in my life, they are charging 10 euros but you can’t even taste the alcohol. instead it was full of white sugar everytime you sip its all over your mouth.
