So can I first of all say the score reflects the service rather than the food. My wife and I arrived when there was only about 2 other tables occupied. The place had a VERY short menu where you can choose 2 or 3 courses. We chose the 3 option. The restaurant now started to get more busy. We waited over an hour and 10 mins before we got our starter and noticed that many if not most of the people who arrived after us got theirs well before us. Our starters were a goats cheese terrine and a tomatoe salad, hardly rocket science to make and would have thought these would be pre-made anyway. Our main courses didn’t arrive until nearly 2 hours after we’d arrived. I questioned why everyone got served before us but he just said it was a mistake and for me to calm down. I just find it hard to believe that they did not notice that we were the only ones not eating as there was only 2 waiters and had to walk past us all the time. I said to the waiter if you’d just said I’m sorry we’re having a nightmare in the kitchen please bear with us that would have been fine. But he said we’re not having a nightmare you were just missed out. He did give us a free glass of wine each but to be honest the damage was done by this time. The food was ok but because we’d waited so long for it, it kind of lost all appeal. There are so many restaurants in Tours and because of the terrible service we never come...
Read moreWe just had a wonderful dinner at Comme à La Maison. We weren't sure what restaurant to pick, but I'm really happy that we chose this one. It is intimate and cozy, totally authentically local and quite high quality. The food was very delicious, and the cocktails and wines were amazing. The couple running the place were super friendly, spoke great English, and were undeniably skilled in the culinary arts. They accommodated our picky kid quite readily as well. At the end of an amazing meal, I got an education in the finer points of the different kinds of Chartreuse digestifs, with the kind of explanations and descriptions which you can only get from a true expert. I certainly recommend you try this place for a nice leisurely fine...
Read moreWe had dinner here last night and I cannot recommend it more highly! The staff were so friendly and helpful. We initially came across it as it was listed on The Fork website as being able to do gluten free dishes, which we had struggled to find in Tours. My mother in law is coeliac (allergic to gluten) so this was essential for us. We reserved a table but they do take walk ins also. The food was excellent as were the drinks. We had a lovely table outside watching the world go by. Really lovely menu which changes daily with what’s in season. All fresh cooking. Excellent value. Worth noting the restaurant is now called “Au Jardin - Comme a La maison”. Highly recommend this restaurant and we would...
