L'Orangerie d'Azay — Restaurant in Tours

Staff were strangely rude to us right from the beginning but never mind. I ordered the menu of the day which was a poke bowl with prawns, crudites, guacamole and mango. The prawns were raw. When I asked, the waiter told me this was the way they did it. I said it wasn’t indicated on the menu that the prawns were raw, and he said “we didn’t say they were cooked either.” Very strange and unpleasant experience. Would not recommend anyone come here.

Edit: The restaurant’s reply is a great example of their attitude. Everything that I wrote above happened. Since they are claiming that it didn’t, I shall provide more details:

When we arrived, the waitress was dour and unfriendly. After she showed us to one table, we asked if we could sit at a different table (by combining one small table with another) which would let us be more shaded under a tree as it was extremely hot (heatwave). To my surprise she acted irritated by our request, and initially didn’t want to accommodate our request, saying we would be too near another customers’ table. I started moving the tables we wanted further away so that we wouldn’t be too close, while explaining to her that we wouldn’t be too near them this way. She looked annoyed and said “Then you can do it yourself.” Which was unnecessarily rude since I was already doing it by myself.

Then, when I received the raw prawns, I asked a passing waiter (different staff) if there was a mistake and he said there was no mistake, the prawns are served raw. I asked why this was not communicated on the menu, to which he immediately replied snarkily, “Well we don’t state on the menu that it’s cooked either.” This reply struck me as rude and ridiculous. When we told him that they should have indicated this, he said “We always eat prawns raw here.” (We are in Brittany and this is blatantly an untrue fact.) In addition, the prawns were not fresh enough to be eaten raw (they were already changing color). I had to insist that I could not eat them as I did not want to run the risk of getting food poisoning, to which he finally offered to cook them. So yes, they eventually did cook the prawns. But the entire experience due to the staff’s attitude...

Déçu ! Déjà que le cadre n'est pas flatteur sur leur terrasse a cause du débarras laisser a vue de tout le monde et les nappe déchiré sur les tables en plus la qualité n'est pas la ! Je commande une buschetta déjà le serveur est incapable de me dire la garniture il demande à sa collègue qui me vend une buschetta tomate cuisiner, grande déception quand le plat arrive c'est un morceau de baguette de pain avec 3 tomate jetter dessus froide et juste tranché donc pas du tout une buschetta il faut revoir ses classique. Vue les prix excessif (qui ne sont bien sûr pas afficher sur la carte c'est surprise une fois arrivé à la caisse) je ne m'attendais pas à repartir avec la faim au ventre car oui vue les quantités dans les assiettes à moins d'être un enfant de 6ans ne vous attendez pas à être repus vous aller être déçu ! Le plat de mon collègue a été oublié la serveuse a osé lui dire "vous ne manger pas vous ?" Alors que c'est elle qui a pris la commande elle a réussi à oublié un plat car bien sur on vien au restaurant pour ne rien manger madame, je vous conseille si vous avez des problèmes de mémoire d'investir dans des blocs notes pour vos serveurs car même pour les desserts ils se sont trompé alors qu'on en a demandé que 3 et nous on apporter le mauvais. Comme si cela n'était pas suffisant en sortant de table j'ai vue le bac à couvert "propre" qu'ils mettent sur les table dans un état clairement dégueulasse si je l'avais vue avant je serais parti sans manger ! Salade qui sort de son emballage plastique du magasin aucun intérêt à manger la bas puisque ce sont les mêmes produits que l'on peut manger à la maison en plus grande quantité et pour bien...

We were a very large school group of about forty including staff members. The staff was very friendly and always happy to help. Each dish was pretty good, I would say the least successful was the tarte au citron, while the best was definitely the main dish of stuffed chicken roulade. I am not sure if these are typical menu items as we had a fixe menu, but either way, definitely recommend the chicken. The staff was great at the end, putting the extra annoying effort of making countless coffees! Thank you...
