It's a Tuesday night. We arrive at 18:10PM and wait at the door for five minutes before a waiter comes by in a rush and tells us he "will be back in a few seconds". We continue waiting outside in the cold for 15 minutes before deciding to go in and ask for seats. A lady comes by and says "Wait here, ok?" and goes on to serve dishes. At one point, three waitstaff, including the two who had spoken to us, were serving dishes, seeing patrons out, collecting payment all while we stood at the door and waited. We gave them 5 more minutes before leaving, making that a total of 25 minutes on a regular weekday evening. There were exactly 4 empty tables, two 2-seaters which would be perfect for us and two 4-seaters, not to mention two couples left while we were waiting.
I am sure the restaurant has reasons. Perhaps there were too many customers for their poorly trained staff to handle. Or perhaps their business is doing too well and they don't need patrons. Or, more understandably, it's too cold to provide better service. Nevertheless, there is absolutely no point in discussing the quality of food with a restaurant that doesn't even give you a seat. Don't waste your time here - Gasthof Neuhaus, with a stellar record and extremely welcoming waitstaff, is just five...
Read moreHad a mixed experience here. They serve very good food, but pulled every penny they could from us.
Came to watch a football game and have dinner. It was a good spot for the game and we had some really good main dishes (I especially enjoyed the smoked ribs special).
It’s tourist oriented but does its stuff well enough that it doesn’t detract. What did detract from our experience was being served half portions of our drinks (drinks listed at 4cl were served at 2cl for full price) and being charged 3.5 euros for water. We are not fluent in German but know enough that it was clear we asked for tap/free water and were served bottled water poured out of sight and surprised by the addition to the bill. When it was mentioned it was clear they didn’t care. Had a good meal but that was a bummer.
Over all it’s a pretty nice...
Read moreWe came on a cold rainy day, we wanted a beer garden feel with authentic German food. We didn't receive a friendly welcome, more like a 'just seat yourself, duh' kind of welcome. It was fairly busy but not crowded, but apparently our waiter was 'really busy' because when I asked him a question he blurted out an answer with disgust and swiftly walked away, this happened twice. Every other place I ate in Europe was more than happy to help me decide what to order, but clearly this was a bother. We did receive our food quickly, and it was vey tasty, great comfort style food. The waiter never tried to talk to us, and definitely never smiled. Hopefully other wait staff are more engaging. I am part German with a German last name, I was happy with the food that tasted like grandmas, but not happy with the...
