Food was ok, service was poor, atmosphere was nice. Food: i tried the apfelstrudel and cheesecake. The apfelstrudel was served hot/warm. It tasted pretty standard. There were unfortunately two hard pieces of skin in the filling of the piece I had. I tried a bit of the cheesecake as well, it was similar American cheesecakes but a bit lighter (not as light as a Japanese cheesecake though). Taste was standard/decent - no complaints
Service: I ordered a topfenstrudel, but they brought me an apfelstrudel instead (everyone else at my table heard me order the topfenstrudel, the waiter confirmed my order as well). After I indicated to the waiter that it was not what i had ordered, she went to check. The waiter that had taken my order initially brought it back and slammed it on the table. He insisted that i had ordered the apfelstrudel then turned around and left before i could say anything. I was too shocked to say anything, i suppose.
Atmosphere: there is a large patio area in the plaza where you can eat and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, there was some construction/cobblestone cleaning going on right next to patio, so it was quite loud. There is a smaller indoors area on the ground floor and a larger upstairs seating area as well. Decor inside looked nice and the upstairs area was well lit. The washrooms were clean. The women's had two stalls.
Other notes: They charge more if you eat in rather than take out (0.60 euros) and want cash instead of card for payment.
Bottom line: would not come back. The quality of the food and atmosphere did not outweigh the negative experience I had with...

My boyfriend and I often visit Berchtesgaden, and on Sunday, we decided to stop at this café for coffee and dessert. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a mistake.
I ordered a cappuccino and an Apfelstrudel, but from the first bite, I knew something was wrong. The strudel was bland, mushy, and had no flavor. My boyfriend didn’t even want a second bite as he thought it was mushy and gross from the fact that it was microwaved and urged me to say something. I kept eating (which I shouldn’t have done), thinking it might just be their style, but then I found raw, uncooked liquid dough at the bottom. It was disgusting. I know strudels can be soft, but this was completely raw and inedible.
When I pointed this out to the waiter while paying, he ignored me and simply gave me the total. I refused to pay for the strudel, so I asked to speak to the manager. I went inside to discuss the issue, and at first, the manager seemed polite, but that changed quickly. She accused me of eating the entire strudel and only complaining afterward. Worse, she intentionally made a scene in front of other customers to embarrass me, saying while laughing, “She ate the whole cake and now she’s complaining.” I asked her multiple times afterwards if I can simply pay so that I can leave and she ignored me like a 2 year old child.
In the end, I paid for the coffee (which wasn’t great either). The only good thing about this café is its location, but the raw strudel, bad coffee, and rude, unprofessional service make it a place I’ll never...
Read moreWhilst doing a guided tour to the Salt Mines (Dec 2022) we had some free time and the weather was not good, so we headed to a café and found this wonderful place. It has two levels with upstairs being a bit more formal with tables, tablecloths, etc whilst downstairs is less formal with high seats/benches and small round tables which is where we sat. We had cappuccino and warm milk as well as a donut with apricot jam filling. Everything was beautiful and the service was fast and friendly. Good...
