Café Bonjour — Restaurant in Berlin

I love this little bakery / cafe. Its simple interior has nice light and comfortable seating. There’s a whole row of bench seating in the back (near the hallway to the toilets) that is my favorite spot, but there’s a step up to sit there. The front seating area is wheelchair accessible, but the bathrooms are pretty small.

Many people seem to just pick up baked goods to-go, but I recommend trying one their breakfast plates and staying a little longer. The coffee is decent, and the prices are very, very fair. The staff isn’t always friendly, but they are effective, and I think it’s reasonable given how traffic seems to come in waves shortly...

Das Café Bonjour in Lichtenberg ist ein fester Bestandteil der Gegend und schon seit vielen Jahren ein beliebter Anlaufpunkt. Hier ist immer ordentlich Betrieb, was zeigt, dass es bei den Einheimischen gut ankommt. Was das Angebot angeht, sind die Kuchen, Brötchen und Co. in Ordnung – man sollte allerdings wissen, dass es sich um fertige Produkte handelt, die aufgebacken werden. Einige Sachen schmecken wirklich gut, andere eher durchschnittlich. Die Preise sind dafür fair, und die freundliche Bedienung macht den Besuch angenehm.

Ein echter Schwachpunkt ist allerdings der Kaffee. Das Problem liegt im Detail: Der Siebträger wird nach jedem Brühvorgang nur ausgeschlagen und nicht mit einem Pinsel gereinigt. Das bedeutet, dass sich mit der Zeit alter Kaffeesatz ansammelt und den Geschmack des frischen Kaffees beeinträchtigt. Schade, denn mit einer kleinen Verbesserung in diesem Bereich könnte der Kaffee um einiges besser schmecken.

Insgesamt ist das Café Bonjour eine solide Anlaufstelle, wenn man in Lichtenberg unterwegs ist und eine kurze Auszeit möchte. Ein paar Änderungen hier und da – insbesondere beim Umgang mit dem Kaffee – könnten den Besuch allerdings deutlich aufwerten. Aber klar, wenn es schnell gehen muss, bleibt die Zeit für solche Feinheiten manchmal...

Brilliant place to eat your breakfast!!! Extremely nice ladies running this business. Very nice atmosphere and reasonable price tags. We, as a foreigner, could not speak a single word of German, but they patiently take time to understand what we want. They are also very generous with the extras in case if you need it.
