Hoppegarten — Restaurant in Berlin

The Hoppegarten is convenient.  It is located  just around the corner from Wulfstrasse where we stay in Berlin & where our son's office is. He relies on this restaurant for most of his weekly lunch meals, especially when a daily special meets his fancy.    Eaten here a number of times breakfast & noon specials.   I've gone to the Hoppegarten  to combine my meal with use of their  WiFi  to confirm my airline flights or catch up on mail or social media.  My last meal  at the Hoppengarten was  Schnitzel with fries  which is my favorite  daily special.     It was large, tasty, and delicious.   Very filling  at a  reasonable price under 7 Euros.  Hoppegarten has a dining area off to the side of the bar that is well lit from natural sunlight coming thru the windows.   The waitress who served our table of four was very friendly and professional.  No question when we return to Berlin for a visit, Hoppengarten will be one of...

I have been there for the first time and I have mixed experience.

Good things: good variety in menu, comfortable and cosy interior and pleasant visitors.

Bad things: service was not good at all as we waited for 20 minutes for menu then another 40 minutes for our breakfast. On the top of this, the waitress brought a plate for us ordered by a gentleman from a table next to ours. Then she took it from us and gave it to the him. So, my friend had to wait another 20 minutes to get his "right" order. As excuse, they gave him a small pancake + orange juice. Sorry, but Hoppegarten guys failed completely...they could make a breakfast for him free. Another thing, the food taste was 3 out of 5. The worst service I have ever experienced.

I took my family here on several occasions and I will definitely come here again. They serve great food although not too many vegetarian options, have amazing beer and even better cocktails. My personal favorite is the 'Hoppegarten Cocktail', where the barkeeper can mix a drink as he pleases. Tried a few and they were all great, especially because I would not have ordered them by myself, unknowing how good they were.

The staff is very open, reacts fast on hand-signs if you want to order and were super dog-friendly which is a huge plus to me.

The only thing I will consider is to book an outside table in summer, as they do not have an AC indoors.
