Kuchenkultur — Restaurant in Berlin

This is a very late review but one that had to be written to be 100% right by Kuchen culture who did a fantastic job.

My mum was visiting Berlin last year for a few days before her birthday and I realized she was spending her birthday in Berlin for which I had to find a good bakery for the birthday cake.

I am an avid fan of cakes and baking , love having a go at it myself. Been to many lovely bakeries and have a fine taste for good quality and technically superb cakes

I live in Scotland and had been to Berlin a few times but never really had a favorite cake place but this place was a real find and an adventure if you don’t know the Berlin well.

Berlin as you know is a massive city and I was keen on finding the best place for a cake and I looked up various review sites for an ideal bakery and stumbled upon this one.

Now mind you, I am calling them from Scotland ordering a cake for my mom but they put great trust in my words and really paid great attention to the very smallest of details and baked the best cake.

We reached Berlin on the 24th of May , gave them a call to confirm time of pick up and then next day used google maps, found the place.

The cafe is set in the heart of Kreuzberg and can be reached by bus M19, 140, U1 Möckernbrücke or U6/U7 Mehringdamm.

A wee bakery with the nicest + friendly people who quickly recognized us as the people from Scotland and showed us the cake which had a lovely message on it.

And what’s the best part, I get a 50-50 cake..one part with wild berry chocolate and the other a blueberry cheesecake.

Both parts were absolutely sumptuous, so rich in terms of quality and such a moist fluffy cake that it almost melted in your mouth.

The money spent was well worth it as everyone thoroughly enjoyed and it was amazing value for money, I would say it’s worth more than what we paid.

Please support this bakery and help them to reach a much bigger crowd within Berlin as they truly deserve it with the skills they have.

The place has a new owner. Most of the good reviews seem to be from before.

This used to be my favorite cake place, but unfortunately the old owners retired and with the change of owners all the amazing recipes went away. So did the lovely staff.

The quality of the cakes dropped significantly, with real no-gos like nutty cakes with big nutshell parts in them that it made my teeth hurt. In general the new recipes just don't taste that good anymore, everything tastes kind of flat and is often a mixture of too many different flavors. Nothing that stands out anymore. Gone are the gorgeous pear-almond-cakes, the delicious browny cakes and the lovely lime-cheescakes that made us go back again and again.

Unfortunately, the staff also seems to be less professional than before. More than once I was in front of the door during opening hours, but it was still closed because the person that was supposed to open the store showed up late. And I sometimes see staff smoking in front of the place, which is really not...

Die pure Enttäuschung. Ich habe zeitnah einen Kuchen für den Kindergeburtstag meiner Tochter bestellt. Es war abgemacht, dass ich den Kuchen in einem abgemachten Zeitfenster abholen kann. In der angegebenen Zeit stand ich vor verschlossener Tür. So fing es erstmal an. Als ich auch noch als Kundin den Kontakt zur Betreiberin aufnehmen musste, durfte ich dann erfahren, dass jemand auf dem Weg sei, um mir den Kuchen erst noch zu bringen (und ich habe Zeitdruck wie jeder vor einer Geburtstagsfeier!) Kein Bescheid geben. Nix. Schon die erste Frechheit und Enttäuschung. Und durfte dann auch noch hören „Ach du bist schon da?“! Nun Kam der Kuchen geliefert an OHNE Aufschrift, wie besprochen und angegeben. Bedeutet ich habe einen einfachen Kuchen bekommen. Den hätte ich überall kriegen können. Zudem habe ich einen Glutenfreienkuchen extra als Stück bestellt. Auch dieser keine Aufschrift, nix. Vor meinen Augen dann auch noch einen Kuchen vom Vortag abzuschneiden. Aha! So viel zum Thema frisch!

Alles kann passieren. Aus privaten Gründen hieß es. Aber wieso werde ich als Kundin nicht kontaktiert um mir zu sagen: „Bitte kommen sie um… diese oder jene Uhrzeit“.. ich durfte hinterher telefonieren. Danke für den Service.

Was ich unheimlich frech fand war, zu spät kommen. Keine versuchte Kontaktaufnahme. Das ist mir noch nie passiert. Nicht mal ein entschuldigen. Dann auch pampig reagieren, weil ich aus zeitgründen nicht noch weitere Minuten warten konnte, damit der Name und die Aufschrift auf den Kuchen noch geschrieben werden musste. Das Geld (50€!!!!) wurde mit einer latenten aggressiven Art auch noch abgerechnet. Als wäre ich schuld. Kein Preisnachlass. So leblos wie der Kuchen umgepackt wurde. Nix. Ich empfehle diesen Laden überhaupt nicht. Ich bin sowas von sauer. Keine Organisation. Keine kundenfreundliche Kommunikation oder Versuch. Und so wie alles auch endete wurde der Kuchen weder mit Liebe gemacht, sonst was. Habe da bessere schon gegessen. Das meiste was ich bereue, dass ich den Kuchen mitgenommen habe. Statt final mir im Rewe oder woanders einen zu kaufen! Mangelhaft, am liebsten 00 Sterne. Einer...
