I'm in whenever I have free time and there's an interesting play on. Out of what I've seen here since I moved to Berlin 4-5 plays were exceptional I loved Caryl Churchills A Number; Howard Barkers Deep Wives, Shallow Animals; Lovepuke; My Romantic History, a play that won an award at the Edinburgh festival. I'd even gladly enjoy some of them once again. Comedy, drama, impro performance, more classic stuff (such as A Midsummer Nights Dream), even heavier and darker plays For instance, ETB's version of Dea Loher's Unschuld within the ongoing Colorblind programme initiated this summer was remarkable. The play is a delight of multiple meanings regarding color as sensorial richness, but also a marker of 'racial difference' and blindness as freedom from prejudice as well as lack of vision. Through an exploration of deeper aspects of themes of guilt, sacrifice, love, sense of purpose/emptiness, divinity as blind chance, but also as an exercise of creative or destructive will etc., many conventional dichotomies are ingeniously twisted. ETB can offer good time in a casual place for a reasonable price; it's recommendable for anyone looking for modern and bold dramatic representation. For obvious reasons the place is almost full even in the last day plays are staged. I'm looking forward to many new things. One can also check out the venue for other kinds of events in English...

Read moreWent to see a great comedy show in the theatre a few weeks ago. Reasonably priced tickets and drinks and a lovely intimate theatre space, just the right size for comedy or a one person show. Only problem was a severe lack of seating space in the lobby area, which is frustrating when you're advised to get there at least 15 minutes early, and some of the staff members seemed very stressed at the ticket stand, which made us quite uneasy. A great experience and venue though...
