This little Indian restaurant is off the beaten track for most who visit Berlin but if you're in Tempelhof, craving a substantial Indian meal, make sure to seek them out.
They don't just have curries and samosas (which are freshly prepared and tasty), they also run a very decent pizza oven and serve up bistro food. I know, I know, that seems like a lot, but for some reason, it works to please an unruly crowd of undecided diners. If you don't like curries, grab an equally tasty pizza, or failing that, let the little guests eat fries and chicken nuggets as you devour a paneer jalfrezi.
This place is run by Indians who are both accommodating and welcoming and actually speak German, Italian and Hindi. If you're lucky, you'll get a front-row seat to some local club tennis players grinding it out as you drink a beer (or cocktail, they do them here, no idea how well), enjoy the sun and the scent of Indian spices which...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Namaste Italia, and I must say it was an absolutely amazing experience. What truly sets this place apart is not only the incredible Indian cuisine but also the warm and welcoming owner. His friendly nature and genuine hospitality made it better than these ratings can reflect.
The food, though, was the real star of the show. Each dish was a burst of authentic flavors that transported me back to India. From the rich, creamy curries to the perfectly baked naan bread, every bite was a delight. The attention to detail in each dish was evident, and the quality of ingredients truly shone through. If you're in Berlin and looking for exceptional Indian cuisine, this is the place to be. Namaste Italia is a hidden gem that I can't recommend enough. It's an absolute must-visit, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable dining experience, which I missed...
Read moreThe place is inside a tennis center, the atmosphere is friendly and it was quite lively when we went there on a Saturday at lunch time. The service is nice but unfortunately the flavour of the food was quite plain. We tried the samosa as a starter, as main we had chicken tikka masala and jalfrezi with naan bread. I especially did not enjoy the naan and the rest was not bad but, unfortunately, not either a reason to return there. Surely they don't have a tandoori oven. 2 stars less because the food was just average. The prices were slightly above average especially for the area and for a restaurant in a sports center. 1 star less. Italia in the restaurant name is probably because they have also pizza in their menu. I'd love to go back there and give them more stars but with the wide choice of Indian restaurants in Berlin, it is not...
