The café looks nice, I go time to time, but the staff is generally impolite. For example, I had an accident there today: while carrying my order to my table, I dropped a cup of coffee, and it spilled in the middle of the café. No one came to help me except for two customers. One of the customers brought me a cloth to clean my hand. When I handed the cloth to a staff member, they took it from my hand without even looking at me. I waited for 3-4 minutes with my finger burning, removed broken glasses. Clean my stuff and none of the staff asked if I was okay or even looked at me. Three were minimum 6 person who was working outside of the kitchen that morning. I felt sorry for them because they had to clean up the broken glass. When I approached one of the staff members and said, "Sorry, the glass is broken and the floor needs to be cleaned," she simply replied, "Ok, I will do," and turned her back to continue her other tasks. They treated me like I was an idiot who had made a mess in their place. The ideal behavior would have been to ask if I was okay, if I was injured, and perhaps offer another coffee as a gesture. But this seems too much to expect from the staff at this café.
I left the shop without drinking my coffee, almost feeling as though this was expected by the staff. I wanted to share this experience for others to be aware. Keep your expectations even below Berlin...
Read moreA nice Schöneberg cafe for breakfast, brunch or just a coffee break at any time. Keeping in mind there are a few other excellent cafés just a few blocks away, with similar high Google rating, Unser Cafe is at a highly competitive spot - but it's fair to say that it defends well.
Speciality of this cafe is the Portuguese baking and the pastry I tried was very good, but so was rest of the menu also - although menu items are classic each of them had something a bit unique for this place. We tried the hamburger, which was a perfect brunch burger, and eggs benedict. Pancakes were very sweet too, less jam than usual but with a well balanced caramel syrup. Coffee options were good too.
Overall service level is good and correct. Quite popular during weekend brunch hours, especially outside tables well filled. Objectively it's a 4.6 but as Google review does not have decimals, it's a 5 and...
Read moreWe visited for breakfast as it was advertised as a "Portuguese" bakery. Very aesthetic dishes, however, the taste wasn't good. We had the eggs Benedict and the pancakes. There was so much going on in both dishes, it was very messy and distracting. Also the taste was overwhelming and just too much. Loads of sauce on the eggs Benedict and the bagel was rock hard. The pancakes were soaked in jam and whipped cream, again not pleasant to eat due to the high sweetness, you could barely notice a crumbly pancake underneath all that. We ordered two lattes which again were half covered in foam with barely any coffee. I had to order an extra espresso to go with it and my partner had a double shot at his. Overall, very poorly spent £37 (€42! on breakfast). Absolutely not worth it. But yes, the dishes...
