I expect bad/mediocre service in Berlin, but this place take the medal.
This is my second time attempting this place, which was equally as embarrassing at the first.
After ordering x1 mussels and x1 vegetable gratin and patiently waiting for 45 minutes, the waitress comes over and attempts a feeble apology -saying she forgot to put or order in - throws 50 cents worth of bread at us and walks off saying it'll be with us soon.
We sit for over another 10 minutes patiently waiting longer - nothing.
When we decide that waiting 1 hour (and probably more?) for a portion of mussels and a gratin is enough, we leave. The waitress publicly shames us for wanting to leave, without even an apology or any sort of empathy or understanding than perhaps just we were a little fed up. Then gets upset when I explain I've had enough... if she would let me say a word without interrupting me.
What irritated me the most was not the mistake. We never said anything, not even once until she came over after 45 minutes. It was the way she handled it, both times. Not even an offer for a drink as an apology, AND to even have the audacity to question me when I want to take my custom else where.
Think twice about giving this place your time, money and custom because just like the first, when I came here in the winter for 'a roast', you will actually be hugely...
Read moreI'm quite disappointed and may not return to this restaurant. It has gone from being an authentic favorite of mine in Berlin to something that might be worse than the average in the Neukölln area.
This place used to be a beloved spot for me with its delicious dishes that made you feel at home. However, everything has changed, from the bread to the main courses.
Bread: Be cautious if you're thinking of adding extra bread because you'll receive a different kind that's difficult to chew.
Moules Frites: First time to try the moules frites which is absolutely tasteless. It lacked the buttery goodness and especially the white wine flavor. It used to be rich in umami with garlic and plenty of parsley, but now it's just overly salty. It's really disappointing. As for the fries, they're worse than what you'd get at McDonald's. Very low quality product..You might be better off getting fries from the kebab place nearby.
Wine : became more expensive but worse taste. For €30, you could find really really great wine in other tons of places in NK.
Additionally, it took approximately an hour to receive our main dishes. Even after that long wait, what I received was truly disappointing, so that's another negative point...

Bar-like in atmosphere and furniture, I entered a paradox as the food rendered me focused and full of praise. Newly accustomed to such culinary expertise and structure, the courses served challenged me with their complexity of flavor and variety. However, like a good record, its ending paints a coherent narrative and vibe.
Highlights included the octopus, whose firm but inviting bite was enhanced by its sauce. The Clams innards were repurposed into savory delicacies. The asparagus stalks were a lovely green and surrounded by a creamy white flavoring, though unfortunately not plentiful enough. Lastly, the blueberry pannacotta dessert immersed me in its foam-like texture and milky taste.
The plates were pretty but never overly decorative. Overall the outing was brilliant, opening my eyes to the rich taste of Berlin. Kudos to Chef...
