Reserved for six people, got a really rude welcome. we couldnt even finish saying that we reserved for 6 people, as the staff interupted what my father in law was saying. Then he simply pointed to a self service table for us to sit. without any kind of information. We went back inside to say we reserved for 6, we then got lead to our table and we could order our drinks. Menu is clear with both German and English description. Beer was really good too. we were waiting for approx. 25 minutes before we could order food. (this first service was by a bit of a rude looking guy in his 30s)

When we got the food it was pretty good, big serving and the schweinnackesteak with onions is good. the service after this from a younger staff member was good and friendly, didn't seem to be working there for a longer time, but was many times more friendly that the staff who've helped us prior.

tl:dr: food, price/quality is good, service felt rude for the most part and...

Went there last night to eat. It was so loud you couldn’t hear your own word. We were a big group, service was good and fast but 90% of the group (party of 38 ppl) complained about the food: I had the schnitzel with the beer sauce, the breading of the schnitzel was EXTREMLY salty and so was the sauce. My husband had the lumberjack dish he didnt finish it because he said it was way too overseasoned. My son had flamkuchen, he also complained about it. My daughter had the nuggets and fries. I couldn’t even give her the fries they were so so so so salty and the nuggets way too long in the fryer plus they were so greasy my finger were like I had dipped them into the frying pan. Other ppl at the table said the same snout about their food.

I personally dont understand the hype about this place, we will def. Not go back. 2 stars only for the server we had-...

Leider unangenehme Erfahrung heute dort gemacht.

Nächste unangenehme Erfahrung: Das Personal hilft beim schnelleren vorankommen.

I was there with a group. I ordered a Lumberjack steak (Holzfällersteak). The first one was dry and cold. which I returned. The waiter said he will make another one and will take 10 mins. 3 mins later the second one came. it was warm and half raw - see picture. Pork should not be eaten medium rare. So I returned after taken a few bites. They said they cannot make me another one since the kitchen is now closed. When I got the bill - they charged me the full amount. After complaining to the waiter - the manager came with an update bill asking my to pay 50%. I tried to explain that I should not have to pay anything. but she said that because I had taken some bites - I should pay half. It can happen that the cook made a mad job - but the response from the manager made it even worse.

Wonderful restaurant that is part of a larger brewery/winery. The restuarant is like sitting in a massive beer hall, and their menu reflects that atmosphere. We started with the pork plate and potato soup. The pork plate was piled high with smoked pork, salad, and bread. The bread was delicious, we could have eaten just that! Then we got flamkuchen, schnitzel with beer sauce and the roulade. Everything was delicious and generous portions. I topped everything off by testing their helles and then a hefeweizen bier. Everything went well together and two adults and two children came to less than 90 Euros. We're already talking about coming back in the summer, but we think it will be packed.

Around 5 kilometres north of Bernkastel centre, this former monastery is a grand and huge site, with attractive gardens and good views (particularly of the half-built new High Mosel Bridge). The main bar is stunning and provides an impressive backdrop to some excellent food and beers brewed on site. There are a number of rooms to eat and drink in, and a small shop where the beers can be bought to take away. You might be in wine country but the Machern is a must-visit.
