I was here yesterday on Tuesday afternoon - there was absolutely nobody else in the restaurant.
I asked for the food and wine menus. They are disgustingly dirty, old and worn out.
Food of red lentil soup and pork chop with red cabbage was good, and portions huge - too huge.
But the waiter was terrible and made the whole experience of going to the restaurant bad! Everything seemed to be a problem for her - getting the wine, getting two glasses of different riesling at the same time so I could compare the wines: asking for the bottles so I could take a photograph of them.
She was cursing and almost swearing that the music wouldn't start, and was very rude. She was huffing and puffing and sighing all the time. Between huffing and puffing and sighing, she was pretty much on the phone all the time.
Trying to cool her down a bit I asked her if she was having a bad day. She looked out the window and said the wet weather gives her a headache.
As others have said, the restaurant takes cash only. My meal cost 35 Euros, that was fair. I gave a different woman a 50 Euro note. I thought I got 15 Euro change, but later when I got back to the hotel I saw I had a 10 Euro note and a 1 Bulgarian Leu note - never been to Bulgaria or seen a Leu! What is that...
Read moreRecommended by our hotel as somewhere that the locals go with some traditional German food. Per instructions, we stopped by around 2pm to make a reservation and the earliest we could get was 8pm (it’s mid November btw). Place was busy when we arrived, and if we didn’t have a reservation we probably would have had to sit outside in the cold. We originally planned to get 2 dishes because we were starved, but the photos don’t show just how insanely large the dishes are. We saw one come out and changed out plans. We went with a salad and schnitzel. FYI, I saw some photos here with a plate of schnitzel and a small salad on the same plate. That is not the case. The schnitzel comes with its own side salad plate that is maybe 70% of the size of the entree salad so don’t need to get both. Only difference is it doesn’t have the meat or cheese. White wine comes in dry, medium, and sweet. No idea winery but it was delicious. We did not order dessert but they gave us little pots of a pudding that maybe contained alcohol but was delicious. Highly recommend, and make a reservation. We are Cochem and considering the 1:10 train to go back and...
Read moreVery beautifully located restaurant, with a really nice, warm atmosphere. Our table was waiting for us with my name written on a plate, nice touch. But then everything went completely south, because this is not the restaurant of which you can find the menu on their Facebook page, they turned out to be the previous owners, so no Cordon bleu and bratkartoffeln for me, which I was very much looking forward to, but a hard to read, very uninteresting menu with only a few options, and worse: simply not tasty, too salt and very expensive drinks. So never again, unfortunately. This is 2024, get yourself a working website and make sure to remove the Facebook page with the same name, because it is false...
