Restaurant Bantu — Restaurant in Brühl

Since the à la carte restaurant in the ling boa hotel was closed for renovation and we had a bad dinner in the Asian buffet last night we thought we would try Bantu. It was my sons birthday weekend with my brother. We walked into an almost empty restaurant and were told by the rude manager who only spoke broken German and broken English that we could only come if we had a reservation. So we went to to reception to make the reservation (since from their website you cannot call to book since the hotline is only open till 17h30). The receptionist called the restaurant to book for us 25 mins later at 20h30 and asked us to wait at the bar. At 20h30 we went to the restaurant, the manager told us to follow the waitress to the table. When we got there he told us he couldn’t serve us. We were so confused as we couldn’t understand the mix up. The manager was so unfriendly and couldn’t express himself and was just getting more frustrated when we asked him what was happening? My 13 year old son was getting very hungry and he would not serve us food even when the restaurant was less than half full! I’ve never in my life had anything similar happen to us!! ...

Das Ambiente gefiel mir/uns sehr gut. Zum Essen fand ich es aber zu dunkel. Auch wenn die anderen Gäste mich vielleicht für verrückt hielten, teilweise habe ich die Taschenlampe meines Handys benutzt, um zu sehen was auf dem Teller war. Ich persönlich sehe gerne was ich esse. Personal sehr freundlich. Unsere Vorspeise 'Cape Tapas' war top*. Als Hauptgerichte hatten wir Dutchoven, Rippensteak, Beschwipstes Hähnchen und Straußenfilet mit geänderten Beilagen wovon eine fehlte. Kam erst auf Nachfragen und als der Rest fast kalt war. Zu meinem 'Beschwipsten Hähnchen" gab es diverse Beilagen: Die 'Boerewors' schmeckte nach nichts, original sollte es eine kräftig gewürzte Grill-/Bratwurst sein. Die auf meinem Teller hatte das Aussehen und die Konsistenz einer gekochten Grützwurst. Im Mandel-Couscous war noch diverses klein geschnipseltes Gemüse. War nicht nach meinem Geschmack. Hatte mich auf das Okraschoten-Anisgemüse gefreut. Die Okrastückchen konnte ich an einer Hand abzählen. Dafür jede Menge Erbsen, Pilze, Paprika und von Anis keine Spur. Leider auch nicht meins, hat mich etwas geärgert. Meiner Meinung nach sollte auf der Karte stehen 'gemischtes Gemüse mit Okra', das würde es eher beschreiben. Die zwei Stücke Hähnchenbrust waren sehr saftig und lecker. Es gab noch Sauce (leider zu wenig), die ganz gut, aber weder nach Papaya noch nach Chili geschmeckt hat. Die anderen aus unserer Gruppe waren zufrieden. Ursprünglich wollten einige von uns den African Fire Pot (Fondue ab zwei Personen) bestellen. In der Karte im Restaurant stand pro Gast 42,00€! Daraufhin haben wir was anderes bestellt. Jetzt lese ich auf der Karte auf der Webseite, daß der Preis für zwei Personen gilt??? Alles in Allem war es trotzdem ein netter Abend in einem tollen Ambiente. Das nächste mal werde ich das benachbarte Restaurant Zambesi ausprobieren. Dort gibt es ein großes Buffet und vor allem ist es dort etwas heller und man kann sehen...

We had a wonderful experience at Bantu in Fantasialand! It’s an African barbecue restaurant with a warm, inviting atmosphere. I ordered the risotto and beef stew and , and it was absolutely delicious – beautifully presented and full of flavor.

The ambiance was very cozy and calm, which made it perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal and having a good conversation. There was also plenty of space for baby strollers and accessibility for guests with disabilities if you wonder.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a great dining experience...
