SÜDLICHT café & shop — Restaurant in Cologne

We’ve visited this place during our day trip to Cologne. When walking past the café, we especially liked the exterior, but it was a bit cold to sit outside, so we ended up choosing a place inside ☺️ The waitresses greeted us wonderfully trying to describe in English what they could offer us (bonus points for hospitality:))

We’ve ordered a cinnamon bun and a café latte ☕️ (unfortunately, the dessert was underbaked for us, but maybe it’s just our perception)

For me, the prices are higher than average, but that is justified by the cozy vibes of this place.

In general, I could say I recommend this place for good coffee, polite staff and calm vibes, but maybe try ordering...

This is the kind of place that gets the basics right.

I come here when I want some quiet time alone. It’s not too crowded, and the staff aren’t overly busy or rushed.

The cinnamon rolls aren’t overly buttery or sugary - just balanced and comforting. (Probably it was vegan?)

Everything served here leans more toward honest, natural flavors rather than being overly sweet or sugar-coated.

The coffee beans didn’t stand out with particular unique notes, but leaned toward nutty and chocolatey tones.

SÜDLICHT café & shop Eifelwall...

Gemütliches und helles Café in der Nähe des Südbahnhofs. Angenehme Atmosphäre für Paare oder Familien. Eignet sich beispielsweise, um am Wochenende einen Kuchen zu essen und einen Kaffee zu trinken. Ich fand es für einen Sonntag Nachmittag nicht zu voll. Es gibt WLAN und hier und da wohl auch die eine oder andere Steckdose. Zum Arbeiten oder Lernen kann ich das Café nur begrenzt empfehlen. Die Tische sind dafür zu klein und die Atmosphäre eher zu locker und gemütlich. Dafür ist es aber vermutlich auch nicht ausgelegt. Die Preise kamen mir ein klein bisschen teuer vor. Der Ingwer Tee wurde mit frischem Ingwer zubereitet und in einem großen (0,4-0,5 l) Glas serviert. Allerdings fand ich ihn mit 3,20€ nicht sonderlich günstig für einen Tee. Zusammen mit einem Stück Kuchen (New York Cheese Cake) habe ich 7€ bezahlt. Der Kuchen war wirklich gut. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.
