川香巴蜀 Li's Kitchen —正宗川菜 — Restaurant in Darmstadt-Mitte

After watching a movie in a nearby cinema with my daughters we were hungry and wanted to eat something nice. One of my daughters said that this restaurant has a high rating in Google maps, so we opted for this rather shabby restaurant. As usual I ordered crispy duck with vegetables while one of my daughters ordered a soup and the other dumplings. Before entering the restaurant I asked the non-Chinese waitress whether we could pay with card as I didn't have enough cash with me and the answer was "of course". What followed was one of the worst culinary experiences I have ever had. My crispy duck was not crispy at all, and the rice and the meat was in a large plate having some kind of soup with a lot of water and little vegetables. The taste of the food was for me 3 out of 10. My daughter who ordered the soup said the soup was average while my other daughter didn't touch the dumplings after having a single bite. We’ve been to Manjing Haus probably 6 times in 2 years. The place is simple and homey. The food is consistently excellent. Definitely our favorite Chinese restaurant in Darmstadt.

There are two menus: one is a trifold with typical Westernized dishes, and the other is a bigger booklet with more exotic and authentic Szechuan choices. I recommend the latter. I've been there multiple times, and I usually pay with my EC card. The same lady was there, and when I told her I wanted to pay with my EC card, she insisted on seeing my card!
