This used to be a good restaurant, until the new owners took over.
What we liked: service was friendly and super fast.
What we did not like: the whole menu is filled with advertisement for things I did not go there. Like the hairdresser of the owners wife, or his other cafe in Neustadt. You actually have to search a bit through the advertise to find the menu. And at the end there is the history of the restaurant, it’s building and the family that ran it since the 1400s.
A place with a tradition like that deserves better than this restaurant which still Carrie’s the name, but no more the spirit. The new owner even plasters his name on everything: from the bar decoration to the glasses the wines are served in.
Wine selection is still local, and quality overall is good (albeit pricey). Food quality was mediocre: I ordered the palatinate plate, which had almost more speck than sauerkraut, and the side bread was disappointing.
I won’t come again if it’s like that. And I miss the old style and class...
