We have stayed at this lovely hotel right in the centre of Fussen many times and it would be unfair if I did not say that we are extremely well aquainted with the tenants of this lovely Olde Worlde building. But I will be honest in my appraisal.||Firstly, whenever we arrive in this lovely part of the world, we have always felt at home right away. The Bonhomie of both our friends and the staff as well as the locals is always the same no matter the time of year. The food is always fresh, hot (right to the end of the meal) and tasty and superbly presented in the local style of cooking [from the roast lamb to my husbands favourite-the steak- and mine which is Potato Soup in the bun for lunch and Jaeger Schnitzel for dinner] and in the tradition set by the hotel, on medieval ceramic serving platters,( plate) and the drinks in mugs with no handles, a bib around our necks completes the look for good measure (and for those of us that occasionally spill our food)! I have never had a bad meal yet! Yum Yum!! The accommodation is very traditional as one might expect in such an old building. The rooms for the most part are large and spacious, light, airy. The carpeted floors are uneven and squeaky in places. But, what does one expect in a building that is over 500 years old! This just adds to the fun of staying there. There are ceramic sinks with running hot and cold water in all the rooms and a mirror and shaving point over the sink area. The towels are clean and fresh and plentiful. The shower areas (no baths available) are basic too but always clean with one shared shower room on each floor. The toilet area is separate on one floor and combined with the shower on the other. There are no TV's or mod cons in the rooms, just comfy beds with a basic wardrobe and shelving and a bedside chest attached to each side of the headboard. Lovely! It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I realised we hadn't even watched TV for over a week -or read a newspaper- while we were staying in the hotel. To me this all adds to the 'Holiday Experience'.||(There is no lift...

Read moreI spent three nights at this pension. On arrival they told me there was no breakfast included ( they are mainly a restaurant that is not open in the morning - at least in October which is off season here ). I handed them my email confirmation stating that breakfast was included. With no hesitation the woman deducted 5 Euros from the price and said I could get breakfast at a nearby bakery. The bakery had good pastry and coffee, though I could not eat as much as I would normally if breakfast was included. Still the over all price was very reasonable for a single with sink but without bathroom and shower. The first room they put me in the over head light did not work. Since they had another room available, they switched me immediately. The room itself was find, though the hall areas are quite run down and the shower area is run down a little. The shower had ample hot water. No one is around late at night and in the morning. The location of the pension was great and there was no noise at night. The staff was all restaurant staff but were friendly when I spoke to them. They knew some English. If you are looking for a very cheap place that is a little rundown in a good location, then this is for you, otherwise I would recommend you try another pension.||The Fussen area is quite scenic, even though the weather was lousy....I think it is best to go there when it is a little warmer and when the weather is better. I still had a good time. There was no...
