Some interesting new lessons I learnt from this cafe: all Cafes in Germany have a 1 hour dine -in rule: this is as per the host and we were asked to leave after 1 hour stating this -Only caveat to above rule is it doesn't apply to Europeans (of course): while we were asked to leave inspite of not having finished the meal (to that in a minute), there were customers who were seated longer than us. When we pointed this, they made us leave even faster. u can order food for dine-in and the cafe would graciously pack it as take-away during your meal: I was having my Beeren Bowl (again to that in a moment) when the host told she would pack it for us so that I can have it at my home instead. as to the food, Beeren Bowl (at least in this cafe) is frozen by Elsa herself: it was so cold that I had to let it thaw. When we pointed it to the host, she mentioned that it's how this is made... Cafes can deny giving you the Rechnung after u pay: when asked for our bill, the host told it's too late to ask (all the while I'm wondering if I'm still in Germany!) when we insisted and cited the law, he sarcastically gave it to us. -and crème de la creme: their attitude towards us was as cold as their Beeren Bowl! When we now posted reviews, the owner falsely mentioned we were there for 2.5 hours. The bill helped to prove that we were let out in 1hr 15 mins.
So to sum up, visit this cafe if you can finish brunch within the hour or like to finish it at your home after being shown the door. But this may depend upon 'Woher kommen Sie'.
As we can't satisfy either condition, we would most graciously avoid the place again for our own...
Read moreEdit 11/07/2022- The owner replies to my previous comment that we stayed 2 1/2 hours?? What a lie!! Fortunately we have the proof that we stayed 1.5 hours. We had reserved the table for 10:00 am and in the bill (see picture) you can clearly see the timing of the bill, it is 11:39 am. But the waiter (guy in black t shirt) had already come to us at 11:06 am to say we have to leave, after which we ordered two croissants and coffee as we were not even done with our breakfast. We took another 15 min to finish it. So basically we were are asked already by the waiter to leave in an hour!! and we also gave a feedback when we were paying the bill, the guy was so sarcastic and arrogant to us and said it is not his problem! This is how they treat the customers! and yes we noticed it is an immigrant business, but we felt discriminated as we stayed for an hour and were asked to leave even without finishing our meal while the rest who came before us were still sitting. Instead of aplogizing they are making up stories to justify their action. Also we were your regular take away customers...which you now lost..I also mentioned this to the billing guy, to which he replied sarcastically 'okay, no problem'! yes not a problem to you, but this shows how their attitue towards customers are.
10/07/2022- 11:55 am (my previous review) We couldn’t even finish our breakfast and they said we have to leave. People coming before us were still sitting and they literally force us to leave !! Never coming back and will ask all our friends in the neighborhood know. They didn’t ask anybody else only us, perhaps because of our color!...
Read moreEdit: responding to Parag Doshi Who told you that my wife booked for 5 people and only 3 showed up? Who told you that they sat there for chitchat for 2 n half hours? Were you there? Or was all that your imagination? We have given realistic review based on our experience. We have proof to back our reviews. This is not the first time we have gone out for brunch. So you can give your feedback on your experience with this cafe. You have no legal right nor any business calling someone else’s review fake or non sense without fact checking. Come on, be a little mature! You may love this cafe, we don’t! We are honestly putting out feedback because that’s what happened with us.
Original Post : Not sure if it is the cafe policy but my pregnant wife and her 2 friends were asked to leave the cafe after 1 hour of sitting in for a brunch to make space for others. My wife had made reservation well in advance and was told initially that they can’t find her reservation. They found it later in another book. So they were seated. We have visited this cafe many times before and there was no mention of any such 1 hour sit in policy. Never seen or heard such 1 hour policy in Germany. Also I think it’s racist to ask only colored people to leave the cafe to make space for others even when there were other people sitting in the cafe who came before and they were not asked to leave after 1 hour. Very disappointed and angry at the behaviour of the staff who were absolutely reluctant to listen to the feedback and were outright arrogant. Never visiting this...
