Görlitzer Kartoffelhaus — Restaurant in Görlitz

We were greeted by a moody waitress who told us that we cannot sit inside because it's all reserved (while no one sat inside). Fine. We went to sit at one of the ~10 tables outside. 3 are free, each of them filled with remnants of the previous dinners. Fine. We sit down. We wait... and wait. A waitress comes and asks if the dirty dishes are ours. No greeting, no smile. We negate and she cleans the table without a single friendly word. Not so fine anymore. We order and after a while the appetizers arrive. Flavor was ok. Nothing special. Then, only 5 min later, the main courses arrive. Not fine! I told the waitress that I hadn't even started my appetizer yet and that because the main course was head cheese, it was gonna melt at 32C. Not apologetic at all she replied "I need to bring them out when the kitchen gives them to me". Totally unacceptable! The cooks need to get their timing figured out. Being a cook myself, I know what I'm talking about. Not sure what kind of establishment they think they run but in the HOSPITALITY business it's all about making the customer happy, not the cook. The waitress should refuse to bring the food out if it's not time yet and the cooks must learn to adapt their cooking. That's what culinary arts...

To some of us who got what they asked for, Food was decent, however the service was awful. Firstly, we asked for menus and nobody came to us, so I decided to go inside and find one, then got shouted at in German, still not sure what the waitress said to me. Then after ordering, half of our table got the wrong dishes. When I spoke to the waitress that took our order, she started shouting and walked away without changing the dishes or even apologising. I don't speak German so I made sure to point at all available to us menus (English, German and Polish) the dishes we wanted and told them what numbers they were on the foreign menu (why not number the German menus?!). One of the dishes was missing a topping and the other one was one we didn't order at all,so we had no choice but eat things with didn't want and we were not able to change them. Amazing food - well, you get there exactly what you'd expect, amazing potatoes in different forms, all well cooked! Dishes are served beautifully, warm and very tasty, there are also vegetarian options. Staff is very friendly and polite, they do an amazing job, welcome you with a smile and are taking a good care of their guests. The restaurant is allowing to change dishes to your taste if you have any restrictions, which is also very nice. The surrounding is nice and cozy, just like you'd come home to eat a heartwarming dinner. They also serve tasty beer from a local Landskron Brewery and have good non-alcoholic beverages. Highly recommending for anyone visiting Görlitz! Loving this place :)

if you need to order a take-away but want to also dine in, they will give it at the end of your meal, so once you finish eating in the restaurant, the food you ordered to take is given after and is still warm when you are going out. Very...
