Not your typical Indian restaurant! With a focus on Malabar/Kerala and Tamil cuisine, Tayas offers much more than the standard Indian menu. Many dishes are served in banana leaf.

“Malabar/Kerala Porota” (a multilayered flat wheat bread from the Malabar Coast of SW India, Kerala) is a must-try bread here. It is made from scratch by the chef who is well experienced in Kerala & Tamil cuisine. I couldn't recommend this bread enough! It goes great with most curries.

“Appam” (or "Palappam"), is a coconut milk based leavened rice flour pancake. It's great for brunch or light dinner. Goes great with egg curry, chicken curry, chickpeas curry etc.

“Malabar Dum Biriyani” is another superb item that may be available on request with pre order. I ordered this with a group of friends, and it was excellent. It's made with a special aromatic rice (Jeerakasala rice instead of Basmati rice), mutton/chicken cooked with optimally balanced mix of spices, yoghurt, mint, coriander leaves and many more, served in a banana leaf. It's a delight!

“Kothu Porota” is a yummy Tamil dish made with shredded porota, egg, chicken/mutton gravy and small pieces. It comes steamed inside a banana leaf. Visually very appealing and very filling meal.

The special "Chicken/Mutton Chukka" and “Chettinad dishes”can give you the real flavour of Tamil cuisine!

They have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays where you can get South Indian breakfast combos. It comes with "Dosa" (lentil and rice based crepe), "Idli" (steamed rice and lentil based dish), "Vada" (crispy lentil doughnut) "Sambar" (a classic curry popular in South India), Coconut Chutney, and a sweet.

The BRU Coffee is the best drink that you could have there with the brunch.

Tayas has a great bar, with a lot of cocktails and drinks options.

The ambience is very nice, with paintings and photos, and nice lighting.

If you are looking for something different from Indian cuisine, this is the place to go! I would totally recommend this place!

Had a delightful anniversary dinner here. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and the aroma of mouth-watering spices. The menu offered a wide variety of Indian dishes, including a range of vegetarian options. I ordered the mutton rogan josh, which was bursting with flavor.

What really made our experience stand out was the level of service provided by the staff. They were attentive, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was top-notch. The restaurant itself had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Overall, I highly recommend Tayas for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Indian cuisine in Göttingen. The food is outstanding, the service is exceptional, and the ambiance is lovely. We will definitely be...
