Café Vanilla Bar — Restaurant in Giessen

At first glance the place seems pleasant, but this impression quickly disappears. The atmosphere seems neutral until you enter the toilet full of spiders and the ceiling was covered in mold. The waiter does not know some items on the menu, otherwise he does the bare minimum and no more. The food was prepared and served quickly, I ordered a Gorgonzola schnitzel and a White Russian cocktail. The salad served with the schnitzel was delicious and the quantity was optimal. Although the portion of the schnitzel itself was big, it was rather a minus because it was soggy and chewy. A good sauce (but also not outstanding) was the only thing that tried to save the situation. The cocktail was bad, the proportions of ingredients were inappropriate. Zusammengefasst: 10 Minuten gewartet, bis jemand zum Tisch kam. Nochmal 30 gewartet, bis das Frühstück da war. Dann fehlte beim bayrischen Frühstück die Brezel. Also: Das eine Ding, was das Frühstück bayrisch macht. Nachdem ich das Personal drauf aufmerksam machte, dass die Brezel fehlt, wurde ich dann auch tatsächlich kurz darauf informiert, dass es keine Brezeln mehr gibt. Hätte ich das gewusst, hätte ich was anderes bestellt. Hab dann ein Croissant als Ersatz "angeboten" bekommen. Aber, wie gesagt: Ich hätte was komplett anderes bestellt, wenn ichs vorher gewusst hätte. Und der Rest vom Frühstück, inklusive dem kalten Rührei, war ja "schon" da. Dann lässt die Bedienung meiner Freundin ne (zum Glück) verschlossene Packung Marmelade in den Rücken fallen. Das ist ansich nicht schlimm, doch man entschuldigt sich bei sowas und sagt nicht einfach "War zum Glück nur Marmelade". Das spiegelt den Gesamteindruck vom Service auch sehr gut wieder. Beim Rechnungsbetrag wurde mir aber natürlich der volle Preis berechnet, was ich absolut dreist finde. Das man sowas nicht macht, sollte eigentlich jedem klar sein, der eine Dienstleistung anbietet. Ganz schwach. Trinkgeld gabs dafür natürlich nicht, aber dafür hab ich den Herrschaften ja unfreiwillig die Brezel geschenkt. Einmal Vanilla, nie mehr Vanilla.
