This Vietnamese restaurant is such a hidden gem with close-to-authentic dishes. The restaurant exuded relaxing atmosphere from the rustic interior. The waiters were utterly friendly as well.
Pho Beef Noodle Soup : The rice noodle had nice texture. The beef was tender enough, making it enjoyable and palatable to eat. Needless to say, the clear beef broth was savory and flavorful with the right amount of spices. The breadstick was unfortunately not airy enough. However, this dish was worth recommending. In my opinion, this was so far the best Vietnamese restaurant in Hamburg.
Rice Noodle with Salad, Home-made Vinaigrette and Marinated Rose Fish with Turmeric and Galangal, Served in Hot Pan with Olive Oil, Mushrooms, Chili, Spring Onion and Dill : Nice presentation. The fish did not smell, flaked well and well-seasoned. It had a great combination with the vegetables. Only for the sauce, I preferred the authentic one like in Hanoi (Mam Tôm).
Deep-fried Rose Fish Served with Peanut Sauce, Vegetables and Roasted Peanuts : The fish was so flaky with crispy coating and robust peanut taste. The vegetables were crisp. However, the peanut sauce could have been less sweet. Overall this was delicious.
Warm Rice Noodle Salad with Deep-fried Spring Rolls, Salad and Papaya and Mango Strips, Refined with Fresh Herbs, Shallots, Roasted Peanuts and Home-made Vinaigrette : The spring rolls were amazing. They have nice filling and extremely crispy exterior. The rice noodle was chewy and the vegetables were all crisp. The herbs were so fresh as well. The dressing was balanced.
Grilled Norwegian Salmon Drenched in Home-made Sauce, Served with Jasmine Rice, Sautéed Vegetables and Roasted Peanuts in Claypot : The salmon was perfectly cooked. The home-made was well balanced as it was not too sweet. The vegetables must have been sautéed briefly so that they were so crisp. The rice was well cooked as well.
Steamed Sticky Rice Cake Filled with Banana, Black Bean, Coconut Cream and Roasted Peanuts : This dessert was really to die for. The glutinous rice was macerated in coconut milk and then drizzled with coconut sauce. What a...
Read moreIn general it was not a good lunch we had here. We neede to wait for 10 min to even order and another 20 min to receive the food even it was not too crowded. Lots of people arrived even after us ordered and received their food before us. Staff just walking very calm even if you raise your hand and sometimes they just pass you by without asking or any attention. Not that he neede to do something, he just passed by and stand by their counter. Then the food was not anything special, too spicy without any other taste. With their price i did expect very good food. Even the amount of food was not comparable with others. Kids food was too hot, not sure why they call it kids menu, but we do expect something easy to have not just smaller version. Serving was also not good. We received the starter, even it was for 3, we got only the starter itself without any plates, so we used fork. Then they take away the starter, he was waiting for me to take my fork, then i had to keep it in my hand till the main dish arrives, which was a bit late. Also bill took few minutes to come which was not too bad but not very convincing as well. Maybe it was a bad day for them, but we did not have a good experience here and will not...
