We came here at the suggestion of a colleague to try this Mediterranean cusine. I think that the cusine for this part of the world is very underrated. I must admit I was worried to feel disappointed since I had just come back from vacationing from the region and I still had the wonderful food fresh in my memory. The fears were put to rest as soon as I had one bite of the starter. It was beef meatballs with yougurt and garlic. I was instantly transported back to my vacation with the flavours bringing back fond memories. The main course moussaka was a delight. The meat was absolutely tender, the symphony of the ingredients and flavours were on full display. If I was having this at home and away from public eyes, I would actually have licked that plate clean! Every molecule of that moussaka contained the essence of heaven for my tongue to experience! Finally we took the tiramisu which is sacred to me. I have experienced so many promising restaurants absolutely rock the main dish but fumble on the dessert. One bite of the tiramisu however put those fears to rest. It held its own to beautifully wrap up this incredible dining experience. I must admit, the service was a tad on the longer side but when the food is this good, its worth the wait. Like the saying goes, good things come to those who...
Read moreThe first time we were here, it was half an hour before closing, and we ordered: 1) Risotto with feta, sun-dried tomatoes, and eggplant, and 2) Moussaka (Turkish style) – ground beef, eggplant, tomato sauce, topped with cheese. Both dishes were delicious, though it seemed they had been reheated in the oven, which wasn’t an issue given the circumstances.
Since we loved the taste and service, we returned with our family and ordered: 1) Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and tomatoes, 2) Wiener schnitzel (veal) – mushroom sauce, fried potatoes, salad, 3) Lamb filet in sheep cheese sauce, rosemary vegetable potatoes, and 4) Moussaka (Turkish style) – ground beef, eggplant, tomato sauce, topped with cheese. This time, everything was fresh and delicious. Some of the items are a bit higher priced, but worth it for the taste.
Along with all the food, we enjoyed ice-cold beer and Cote du Rhône red wine. The only reason for 4 stars is that, in our opinion, there’s room for more vegetarian or vegan options on the menu. Otherwise, we would definitely recommend this place for...
Read moreLunch was delicious. Small, but carefully selected menu with two meat options, one salad and one vegetarian. For lunch one does not need a larger selection. I had the pene with vegetables - a delight. Al dente mini penne with fabulously seasoned vegetables in a tomato sauce. Lunch came with bread accompanied by two spreads and olives. (All pictured) The restaurant itself is very elegant, but nicely relaxed. Attention to detail is noticeable in everything from the tables and chairs to the glasses and silverware. You feel very comfortable in this calming atmosphere. Service is attentive and personal. I highly recommend Mokka for an...
