Restaurant Scharf — Restaurant in Hamburg

We bought the groupon to try out this restaurant on a Friday night. The restaurant itself is nice and small, but very stuffy because all the window and door were closed. We ordered the Schafkäse aus dem Ofen, saisonale Vorspeise und french Bürger plus groupon menu 2kilo shrimps with soup( yeah it's crazy!) So after 20 minutes came the small Gruß aus der Küche, which was a small curry herrings topf. I guess its store bought and the baguette was really dry. The seasonal appetizer was really really nothing special, store bought noodle salat , sun dried tomato , piece feta cheese, sliced salami, store bought ready to eat beetroot slices and boiled potato with some weird sauce.. It costs 9,6€!!!! So waited for another 15 minutes after we were done and The waiter finally cleaned up the table because the whole restaurant just had one server. First came the 2kilo shrimps. I can tell by the look already it was frozen and the quality wasn't that good. It was hard to peel because the shell was sticking on the meat. Tasteless, no season and they cooked it while the shrimps were still frozen. It would costs normally 1kilo shrimps 39€ per person!! The French burger were served with some steak fries which wasn't so bad, the burger meat was also frozen store bought and very dry. 15,6€ was how much it costs. Way too overpriced for the quality and quantity. Weizenbier costs 5,2€ which in other restaurant around costs 4,2-4,6€ Overall, we would not go to this restaurant again because the quality didn't meet up the price, and all the food were...

The workers were really unfriendly. The manager incredibly impolite. I was really shocked about the attitude of the people working there. My boyfriend and me had a reservation of 100 euros already payed and they didn’t let us enjoy our reservation. So please watch out about this if you decide to go... I asked the manager: “can you explain me in English what’s the problem?” He told me directly “go out” in front of all the people having dinner. I don’t think this is the way you treat your clients in a restaurant in any part of the world. It was not enough with this that he went outside with us and continuing to complain in a really bad way. About the food I can’t say anything because like I said we didn’t have the change to try it. But I think if the workers are like this in a place, this place is not good anymore. Is just my opinion. Wir hatten mit unserem MyDays Gutschein ein romantisches Candle Dinner im "Restaurant Scharf" gebucht. Nach den Wünschen von Herrn Scharf haben wir unsere Reservierung vorab nochmals telefonisch bestätigt. Er konnte jedoch unsere Reservierung nicht finden und wurde uns gegenüber äußerst unfreundlich und aggressiv. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hätte ich diese Buchung bereits stornieren sollen. Der Termin stand fest! Wir konnten jedoch nicht genau pünktlich vor Ort sein und haben deshalb telefonisch unsere Verspätung angekündigt. Wieder konnte Herr Scharf unsere Reservierung nicht in seinem Bestellbuch finden, wurde sehr ungehalten und reagierte seinen Frust an uns ab. Im Restaurant angekommen sind wir dann jedoch freundlich von zwei Restaurantfachfrauen begrüßt und zu unserem wunderschön dekoriertem Tisch geführt worden. Uns wurde die Karte und unser Menü erklärt. Dann begann das Warten...bis wir erstmal die Getränke bestellen konnten... bis wir unsere Aperitifs hatten...Die Wartezeit plätscherte dahin und wir hatten unsere Getränke schon längst geleert, bis der Gruß aus der Küche kam. Brot und Dipp, war kein Geschmackserlebnis. Wieder warten... Wir hatten ein Vier-Gänge-Menü gebucht, doch es gab offensichtlich Probleme in der Küche. Die einzelnen Gänge wurden in Abständen von 30 bis 35 Minuten oder sogar länger serviert, sodass wir am Ende drei Stunden warten musste, bis wir unser leckeres Dessert bekamen. Der Hauptgang war Makrele mit Gemüse und Kartoffeln. Der Fisch war viel zu trocken und das gebratene Gemüse noch teilweise roh und fad. Unter dem Rindergulasch, das total zerkocht war, vermutlich damit die darin enthaltene Fett- und Fleischstücke weniger auffallen, waren noch einige Salzkartoffeln versteckt. Damit wurde die Portiongröße des Hauptganges optimiert. Die Portionen waren insgesamt winzig und wir sind trotz Vier-Gänge-Menü nicht satt geworden. Und zwischendurch das ewige Warten... Eine Information durch das Personal erfolgte erst nach Nachfrage und die Erklärung war eher zweifelhaft. Denn Suppe, Salat und Beilagen können sehr gut am Nachmittag vorbereitet, erwärmt, angerichtet und schnell serviert werden. Zum Abschluss gab es den furchtbarsten Espresso, den wir jemals getrunken haben. Im Restaurant waren stolz und gut sichtbar die erhaltenen Auszeichnungen präsentiert.
