Simply Food Hamburg — Restaurant in Hamburg

I was so excited for this place to open. I've been there twice. I find it a little on the pricy side for what it is especially since the atmosphere is that of a quick, casual cafe or bar and not of a stylish restaurant. Pulled beef burger and carpaccio was especially bland and unspectacular but the pizza and pasta are ok. The service last time was like a complete catastrophe out of a film. There were at least 4 servers running around like mad with little earphones as if that helped. Our drinks were forgotten on the bar (we ended up going over and picking them up ourselves) One could hear dishes being dropped and smell pizzas being burnt in the kitchen. The waiter would take one person's drink order and not notice that everyone else wanted refills and leave. One of our orders was mixed up and the waiter argued with us about what we had ordered. They ended up giving us a free dessert for the mix up (delicious lemon sorbet). I'll probably end up trying it again, but simply for the lack of interesting restaurants...

Good food, but the service was horrible specifically a man with an ear ring in each ear and a ponytail who listened in on my conversation with my wife, me asking if she had said something right in German (her third language) for him to come to the table and speak to us as if we had said something about him and be rude enough to come to our table a second time and rudely correct what he thought he heard and leave before I could say anything. I have worked in restaurants most of my life, and if I had done such a thing I would have had the foresight to at least apologise when someone explains the situation, instead he told my wife to go away and treated us like unwanted guests. I live locally and eat there semi-often, but I will not be going again and I will not be recommending friends or colleagues go. The other servers were very nice, the female member of staff was fantastic and tried to solve the problem but I didn't want complementary items I wanted an apology.

Hatten spontan an einem Freitag Abend einen Tisch reserviert. Schönes Ambiente drinnen wie draußen. Wurden auch sofort empfangen. Als ich unseren Namen nannte wurde nur mit den Schultern gezuckt und gesagt: Der Tisch geht. Hm, seltsame Art. Saßen noch nicht ganz am Tisch da wurden im Vorbeilaufen die Karten und Besteck hingelegt. Ist auch kein richtiger Servicestandart. Man lässt die Gäste zuerst in Ruhe Platz nehmen, reicht die Karten und fragt nach den ersten Getränken. Die junge Dame die dann kam nahm unsere Bestellung an und wirkte ein bisschen wie ein Roboter. Nicht unfreundlich aber auch nicht herzlich. Sie schaute uns nicht direkt an und konnte wegen eines Weines keine richtige Antwort geben. Als Vorspeise bestellten wir die Antipasti zum teilen. Als das Gericht kam, musste ich aufstehen und nach Brot fragen. Bekam dann 2! Scheiben. Was meiner Meinung nach gar nicht geht. Bei einem Italiener erst Recht nicht. Es liefen dort 5 Servicekräfte herum und keiner hatte einen Überblick über die eventuellen Wünsche der Gäste. Und wenn man sich eine Vorspeise teilt, gehört auch ein zweiter leerer Teller dazu. Zum Gericht selber: das Gemüse war köstlich, nicht zu fettig und noch knackig. Aber es waren nur noch 4 kleine Scheiben Salami, eine Scheibe Schinken und ein paar Parmesanhobel auf dem Teller. Und das ganze auf aufgetürmten Salatblättern damit es nach mehr aussah. Und Salat gehört auch nicht auf eine Antipastiplatte. Und es fehlten auch sowas wie Tomate-Mozzarella und ein wenig Vitellotonato. Und das dann für 12,90€ ist schon fast Wucher. Zum Hauptgang hatten wir eine perfekte und köstliche Pizza. So gut habe ich sie außerhalb Italiens noch nie gegessen. Die Pasta aglio e olio war zu klein und es waren SCHWARZ GEFÄRBTE Oliven drin, die gehören nicht in dieses Gericht. Und dann auch noch gefärbte. Geschmacklich war es okay. Unsere Weingläser und das Wasser waren auch leer. Keiner fragte nach ob wir noch einen Wunsch hätten oder ob alles recht sein. Und das trotz so hohem Personalaufkommen. Als die Teller abgeräumt wurden, wieder keine Nachfrage. Kein: möchten Sie noch einen Espresso oder ein Dessert. Das gehört für mich einfach dazu. Zumal die Preise auch nicht gerade günstig sind für Barmbek. Das Produkt selber, bis auf die Oliven, ist von guter Qualität. Das schmeckt man. Aber beim Service ist noch sehr viel Luft nach oben. Mit weiteren Fragen nach Getränken und Co erhöht man ja auch den Umsatz, was ja eigentlich auch im Sinn der Geschäftsführung sein sollte. Somit sind wir mit gemischten Gefühlen...
