Subway — Restaurant in Hamburg

I would expect anyone working in the hospitality industry in Hamburg to have at least basic English skills. Unfortunately, the staff member who prepared my sandwich didn’t speak any English at all. Even a simple 30-word vocabulary would be enough to handle basic tasks. If this were a small-town restaurant, I wouldn’t even mention it, but Hamburg is an international city, and Subway is a global brand, not a small family-owned business. The older employees were much better in this regard, but the newer staff give off the impression that “I learned German, so don’t expect me to learn English just for you.” Of course, they don’t say this outright, but it’s clear in the way they interact with customers. German-speaking guests get smiles and friendly service, while others receive only the bare minimum. The difference is noticeable, and it doesn’t leave a good impression.

That being said, the food was perfectly fine, the prices were as expected, and everything was clean with excellent...

Ich rate jeden davon ab hier zu essen. Unfreundlich und vor allem unhygienisch!!!!

Vor mir waren 3 leute. Der Mitarbeiter hat die ganze Zeit die selben Handschuhe getragen. Zwischen dem belegen und toasten ist er dann in der Küche gewesen und hat mit den selben Handschuhe dort alles angefasst und die Küche geputzt!!!!! Dann kam er wieder und hat weitet dir subs belegt!

Das hat er die ganze Zeit gemacht bis mir der Kragen geplatzt ist und ich ihm das gesagt habe. Daraufhin hat er mich komplett ignoriert und auch den chef hat das alles nicht interessiert - unglaublich!!!

Subway steht fuer frische und sauberkeit aber hier sieht man beides nicht. NIE WIEDER!!!! Wer mir nicht glaubt, kann sich selbst gern ein Bild...

Great customer care from both employees. Impressed with the attention to detail when serving my wife that has gluten intolerance. The gentleman even offered to change the rubber gloves with new ones when making the sandwich for my wife to avoid any cross contamination....
