Rias Baixas 2 — Restaurant in Hanover

As a galician I liked the tapas and the draft beer Estrella Galicia. We ordered Pimientos de padron, Pulpo a lo Gallego, Chorizo and Gambas al Ajillo. The tapas are very authentic but lacked the taste I am used to from my family and Galician restaurants such as in La Coruña, Santiago and Carballo to name a few places. In other words, this restaurant can improve on how to prepare and spice up their dishes.

As main entries we ordered, Sepia a la Plancha, Combinado de Pescados and Combinado de Pescados das Rias Baixas. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by these dishes as they lacked flavor and spice, but looked good and were well cooked such that I had no worries concerning the quality of what we ate. The quantity of these dishes were very generous as typical Galicians usually are.

To sum up, we can recommend this place for an authentic Galician experience with generous and good tapas where you can enjoy pretty good Galician draft beer. Like this you can prepare yourself to an awesome experience that awaits you in the Northwestern part of Spain, that will blow your mind. I honestly, can recommend you to go to Galicia, too.

But for the aforementioned dishes unfortunately not. Nor for the hygiene on the table, the chairs or the amenities. This is something you need to get used to in Galicia, as well.

By the way, some pictures posted on google map concerning the dishes: some are not available such as paella, in case you only went there for that, you have to switch to another option. But paella is not a Galician...

After spending 23 years in Spain I came to this restaurant wanting to try my local food that I miss so much because I’m living in Germany right now, ordered many things and I was completely disappointed when the owner did not accepted the return of a tapa of eggplants that were totally disgusting stating that they do it like that and nobody complained about it. Ordered octopus (it was heated in the microwave, a real sin for a Galician restaurant) jamón is the same that you can buy in the supermarket, everything was okey to eat but the eggplants were totally disgusting, I asked the waiter to remove it and he agreed but after talking with his manager he put it back stating that they were totally fine. On a total tab of 75€ seems that the manager prioritize 6€ and the insatisfaction of a Spanish client that would not return to...

!!!NIE WIEDER!!! An sich hat der Abend nett begonnen. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, die Getränke waren schnell am Tisch und auch die Tappas und Hauptgerichte haben nicht lange auf sich warten lassen. Nachdem auf der Terrasse ein Tisch freigeworden ist, fragten wir, ob wir uns dorthin setzten könnten. Auch hier waren die Servicekräfte freundlich und zuvorkommend. Mit dem Hinweis, dass um 22 Uhr die Terrasse geschlossen wird, wurden wir zu einem Tisch nach draußen begleitet. Dort angekommen gaben wir uns wieder den Gesprächen hin, bis der Chef um 22:01 an unserem Tisch stand und die noch fast zur Hälfte und (viel wichtiger) bereits bezahlte (!!) Weinflasche von unserem Tisch riss und damit ins Restaurant innere verschwand. Zunächst dachten wir, es würde sich dabei um einen etwas verschrobenen Scherz handeln, aber der Inhaber des Restaurants meinte es tatsächlich ernst. Hierbei ging es uns, als zahlende Gäste, nicht etwa um die paar Euros, um die wir (man muss es so deutlich sagen) dennoch bestohlen wurden, sondern um die Art und Weise, mit den Gästen umzugehen. Nach dem Versuch, ein klärendes Gespräch mit dem Inhaber zu suchen, wurde dieser uns gegenüber (auf der immer noch vollen Terrasse) äußerst unfreundlich und pampig. Keine Einsicht! Keine Reue! Kein Verständnis! Im selben Moment stellt sich ein Service-Mitarbeiter des Restaurants draußen mit einem halben Liter Bier hin und führt angeregte Gespräche. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle nochmals betonen, dass es uns primär um die Art und Weise, mit Gästen umzugehen, ging. Das war eine Art, die nachdrücklich in Erinnerung geblieben ist und uns veranlasst, dieses Restaurant nie wieder aufzusuchen. Ich kann von diesem Fall zwar nicht auf andere schließen, aber eine solche Mentalität als Inhaber eines Restaurants an den Tag zu legen, sollte mit anderen – potenziellen Gästen, geteilt werden. Ich würde mich sehr freuen, wenn der Inhaber diese Nachricht liest und ggf. mit etwas Abstand einsieht, dass sein Handeln in keinem Verhältnis zu der gegebenen Situation stand. Gerne bin ich dann auch bereit, den Vorfall zu vergessen und meine Bewertung anzupassen. So möchte ich es auf jeden Fall nicht stehen lassen und das sollte auch im Sinne des...
