Julien — Restaurant in Kaiserslautern

Location was very convenient. Reservations were easy to make by phone. Prix fixe menu was delicious and very well priced. We enjoyed their wine selection and non-alcoholic cocktails. The pate was very tasty and the entrecôte was amazing. Easily would have been a 5 star night were it not for the waitress. Not sure what she’s going through in her life or if that’s just her unfortunate personality but every interaction with her left my wife and I exchanging quizzical looks afterwards. It's kind of a cliche for a French restaurant to say that the food is excellent, but the service is lacking - right? Well, that's the situation that I find here. The food is some of the best I've had in Ktown: high quality ingredients, well made, well presented. But the service can be a little off - it's a tad pretentious, and can make you feel like you're bothering the wait staff. Between the five star food and the three star service, I'll settle on four stars.

Oh - I will unhesitatingly recommend the Sunday brunch, which is pricey...

I have eaten at Julien's Restaurant a number of times over the years and it is always a special experience. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, whether it is outside in their garden, or inside the tastefully decorated dining room. My favorite meal is the Riesengarnelen auf Spaghetti in Knoblachveloute (King Prawns on Spaghetti with garlic sauce) and my favorite dessert is the Warmer Pflaumencrepe mit Vanilleis & Sahne (Warm plum crepe with vanilla ice cream & whipped cream).
