Café am Markt — Restaurant in Landau in der Pfalz

Located just off the main market square, we called in on a Saturday lunchtime when the cafe was busy. We waited a few minutes and were given a table for our party of four. Service was quick and we soon placed our order for food.

I had a local specialty, white sausages in hot water, plus a salted pretzel and mustard, which was very tasty. Our other food was well cooked and good, and soon served after ordering.

Convenient location near the town hall square/market square. Lovely ambiance, charmingly old-fashioned. Delicious cakes and tarts, and decent coffee. The friendliest service in all of Landau! Das Café ist leider nicht mehr das, was es einmal war. Es sollte ein Ort sein, an dem Menschen mit Behinderung einen Arbeitsplatz finden, integriert und gefördert werden. Es war nicht nur ein Ort für die Beschäftigten, sondern auch für die Gäste und für ganz Offenbach. Ein Ort, an dem man sich einfach wohl gefühlt hat und zusammenkam. Spezielle Aktionen wie die selbst gemachten Dampfnudeln, der bayerische Abend oder die Weihnachts-Buffets waren sehr beliebt und legendär. Mit dem Verkauf des Konzeptes wurde aus der familiären Atmosphäre mehr Kommerz. Vom integrativem Konzept ist leider kaum mehr etwas spürbar. Klar soll sich ein Geschäft rechnen, aber ein Café, das mittlerweile nur noch bis 12 Uhr offen hat, "nur" noch Frühstück anbietet und nur noch Gäste willkommen heißt, die auch verzehren und das Buffet nutzen - das ist gut für den Umsatz, aber schlecht für die Atmosphäre....
