UDP Mainz Restaurante — Restaurant in Mainz

Really good Portuguese restaurant to visit when you are really into seafood and do not want to spend too much money. We arrived late in the city of Mainz last saturday, but were luckily still able to visit this restaurant with a large group. It was pretty vibrant for a saturday evening, but there is also lots of places to sit. Service was friendly and drinks were quickly put on the table. The food did take a while to arrive (but that is pretty logical for when a large group of 32 people suddenly enters the restaurant). I orderder the mixed fish plate, which was a pretty good portion and tasted very good. The fish platter consisted out of 2 gamba's, anchovies, squid, salmon and clamps. The clamps, squis and gamba's tasted really good, however the sardines were a bit salty and were a bit hard to skin. The salmon was standard, but a little bit overcooked. However, overall the price/quality ratio was pretty high and the food was simply good. The decor of the restaurant was really football-inspired, which to me is awesome. Ein kulinarisches Erlebnis am HbF in Portugal...

Das UDP Mainz Restaurant bietet ein unglaublich gutes portugiesisches kulinarisches Erlebnis. Die große Auswahl an Fischspeisen ist beeindruckend und zeigt die Vielfalt der portugiesischen Küche. Besonders hervorzuheben ist aber auch der Nachtisch des Hauses ( wurde als eine Art Portugiesen Tiramisu beschrieben ) was definitiv das Highlight des Abends war!

Die Bedienungen im UDP Mainz sind auch äußerst freundlich und aufmerksam, was den Besuch zu einem angenehmen Erlebnis macht.

Allerdings ist die Atmosphäre im Restaurant etwas enttäuschend, da sie eher einer Bahnhofshalle ähnelt und teilweise extrem laut sein kann. (Lieght wahrscheinlich auch daran das der Laden eher für Fußballfans ausgerichtet ist)

Auch bei den Preisen sollte man sich eher darauf einstellen etwas mehr zu bezahlen, dass Essen ist aber seinen Preis allemal wert!
