Pizza & Panini da Toni — Restaurant in Meissen

Would have loved to try the pizza, but we were profiled and turned away as soon as we politely asked if the lady at the desk spoke English. We speak a little German, but ordering food often works best with a blend of the two languages. This is the first time we experienced this in Germany, and I had to console my child after we were refused service, who was very excited to get out of the rain and eat there.

Edited to respond: The words used were “We are closed today,” which was not true, and we were the only customers there (unless there was a large dining area in the back we couldn’t see from the front desk). If deine Frau spoke well enough English, she would have known that those words were essentially kicking someone out. Kinder words for future interactions would have been, “Our kitchen is very busy and we cannot take more orders tonight.“

I hope this was only a miscommunication, as this was the only time we felt truly unwelcome so far in...

Toni`s Pizza besser als in Italien

Wir haben endlich die wunderschöne Stadt Meißen besucht und uns im Vorfeld angeschaut, welche Möglichkeiten zum Essen hier angeboten werden. Unsere eindeutige Wahl fiel auf "Pizza & Panini da Toni" in der Fleischergasse 7. Die unglaublich herzlichen und tollen Bewertungen haben zu der Wahl geführt. Vor Ort waren wir etwas am suchen um zu Toni´s Pizza Ofen zu finden. Zum Glüch hat er ein Fahrrad mit Pizza-Tafel vor dem Geschäft aufgestellt. Wer hier her kommt bekommt die beste Pizza überhaupt. Selbst in Italien (haben dort schon viele Pizza`s gegessen :)), ist sie nicht so lecker wie bei Toni. Die frisch zubereitete und Punktgenau gebackene Pizza ist mit so viel Leidenschaft und Liebe zubereitet, dass jeder Weg hierher lohnt. Was wir absolut bedauern: um häufiger in den Genuß dieser fanastischen Pizza zu kommen, haben wir eine längere Anfahrtszeit. Noch ein wichtiger Hinweis: es ist kein Restaurant mit Bestuhlung und Personal aber außreichend Platz um das leckere Essen gleich zu genießen und mit Toni ins Gespräch zu kommen. Da Meißen viele Bänke mit tollen Aussichten zu bieten hat, ist der Pizzakarton sicherlich bald geöffnet um den Inhalt zu genießen. Übrigens: Die Panini´s sind auch super lecker. :)

Very nice pizza place. We ent here because of the reviews and we were not disappointed. Bought one Hawaii pizza and one Italiana pizza. Oh my lord how they were delicious. Everything to perfection. The bottom, the filling everything. They only take cash here, but there is an ATM close by. 5 out of 5 Italian stars...
