I stopped by to pick up some special sweets for Eid al-Adha—specifically, the maamoul. The Syrian version comes shaped like a disk, while the Tunisian one is more like a kaak, a donut filled with dates. Both tastes heavenly and perfect alongside a strong espresso or Turkish coffee. (Definitely go for the sugar-free coffee with maamoul; the balance is just right.)
I also had the chance to taste the basboussa, absolutely worth it (so soft made with sirup semolina and coconuts). If you live nearby or are just visiting Tunisia or Syria, basboussa is a must-try.
And here’s the bonus: they have the best coffee and espresso machine in the area. Finally, a café in the neighborhood that gets it right: expertly made sweets and truly aromatic coffee in one address.
