I went there with a few of my friends an hour after it opened with decent expectations. We ordered a plate of fuul, mes’a and koshari with pulled chicken. As a take away with us we got tameja wrap. To start with the positive, the fuul was exceptional although a little sour, the koshari was authentic but would have liked a little more rice, and the mes’a was alright but not exactly authentic I would say. However, the reason for writing this review is the tameja wrap, if you could call it that. It was very small, and very skinny. I feel like i can say this with confidence, since I have tried tameja sandwiches in egypt, that this was the least like a tameja thing that I have ever tried. And as if it couldn’t get worse, the tameja inside tasted old and oily and the bread was hard. I remember it being mentioned that it would have fuul in it but I could honestly taste nothing of that. I am not mad at the price that was paid for that wrap, which was 6.9€, I am made that i paid for something that is as close to inedible as any food can be. I’m just disappointed that such a nice meal was muddied by such a...
Read moreA rather small restaurant & takeaway diner where you can sit inside as well as outside if weather conditions permit. The friendly owner serves authentic Cairo street food - especially 'Koshari' which can be found all over the Egyptian metropole. It comes in layers of rice, brown lentils, pasta, chickpeas, tomato sauce and fried onions on top and is a delicious carb bomb. You can add a herbal and/or hot spicy sauce according to you taste and it will definitely satiate your stomach for the rest of day. Please note that in Arab speaking countries the food is served rather lukewarm than hot; a tradition you should be aware of. If there is still space for a dessert try the Egyptian rice pudding or the cinnamon flavoured, treacle infused 'Golden Roll': both nutty &...
Read moreI am Egyptian, I went there had a koshari and it was the worst I ever had.
The sauces are incorrect other than the base sauce, the lentils/chickpeas were raw and very very few.
The fried onions were with outer shell cover so you were eating fried pieces of onion cover.
For dessert I had a “roz b laban”, basically also completely wrong they made it as a rice pudding mushing the rice not cooking it properly.
Will I ever go back there nope!
If you would like to provide Egyptian meals just make it proper please!
Checking the lentils or chickpeas are raw or not are a basic thing, when I complained the guy was like ok thank you.
Price is not proportionally okay at all for such a low quality meal...
