Mai Garten — Restaurant in Munich

Service - wonderful. From the minute I walked in, I had the vibe that this was a family restaurant. The matriarch was sitting in one of the tables having her dinner. If the food she eats is from her own restaurant, then it is a good sign because it means they food is delicious.

As soon as I arrived, as an American, I was waited on in English. His English may not have been perfect, but the effort is absolutely what counts (just like my German isn’t perfect as well).

The atmosphere inside is good and friendly. When I walked in, it was empty but not even 3-5 minutes after, the place filled up. From an older woman to a single man to 2 couples and one had a baby in hands. I kinda felt bad because they did not have a place to sit to wait for their carry out food. I offered them my table so that I could move to the window bar but they refused.

Ordering Phase: quick and efficient, although I did not like that their only low calorie drink was Coca-Cola Zero. I wish they would brew their own tea like most Asian restaurants do in the United States. It would truly stand out here in Munich. Freshly brewed cold iced would be a commodity.

Ordered Springs Rolls: came out pretty fast The sauce is definitely not homemade but it is pretty good due to the fact that it has a tangy taste to it. Much better than most Sweet & Sour sauces that I’ve had Were pretty crunchy! I love crunchy spring rolls considering many times there are places that have them soggy

Nudeln mit Gemüse: Quite delicious. I would definitely get it again

Mixture Fleisch Dumplings: I didn’t enjoy these as much but they were still very high quality made.

Overall, I would recommend...

Firstly, the food is quite mediocre and one of the dishes we ordered was too salty to eat. Even the manager admitted that the dish was too salty but they didn’t bother to rectify it before serving it to us.

So if you decide to dine here, please do yourself a favour by not ordering any cold dish.

Secondly, the service was absolutely garbage. I ask the guy with a pair of glasses and terracotta hairstyle to refill our teapot with hot water but he was like, he had a terrible constipation kind of pokerface. To offer him some credit, he did refill the pot but left it on the counter. When questioned why not bringing the pot over to our table, his response was it is not his job so he couldn’t be bothered.

I decided to leave 2 stars because the manager did offer his apology on behalf of the guy who supposedly had a difficult day.

Too difficult to bring the tea pot over to our table which is 2 meters...
