Osteria Mugolone — Restaurant in Munich

We booked a table and the Valentine’s Menu for a romantic date, as I had fond memories of Mugolone and wanted to surprise my loved one. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. The menu was overpriced for what it offered. The vegetarian starter was simply the regular dish with the meat removed—without any substitution—yet it was still charged at the same price. The main course was much too salty. The cocktail was overpriced for the ingredients and mostly ice, and the dessert was overly sweet. I remember the restaurant having a great wine selection, but we weren’t even asked if we’d like to order wine or given a wine menu. The restaurant was overcrowded, and with only two waiters managing all the tables, they were clearly overwhelmed. As a result, service felt rushed, with no time for recommendations or attention to detail. For a restaurant in this price range, the overall experience was disappointing. This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend, and I was very much looking forward to it; however, to be very honest, I was a bit disappointed. We went there on a Tuesday evening, it was only 3-4 tables including us. They have a short and simply menu (usually it’s a good sign), so it didn’t take us so long to make decisions. The starter was the best of all I must say, it was crispy and yummy, I didn’t see it anywhere else. The two main course was unpleasant. The chicken was not crispy or juice, it was average or even below average. The lamb was dry, feels like the meat in a goulash which you get in the restaurant in supermarket. Being first time yesterday with my date and all I want to say thank you specially to Tom an amazing chef and persononality and to his wonderful team. We had a beatiful romantic night and the athomsphere inside was also very cozy and home-feeling. Sitting outside felt like we are in a street somewhere in Italy enjoying our Campari drinks. About the food, no words. Fresh ingredients perfectly cooked pasta and the combination of flavors and textures left us speechless.
