QYU Restaurant in Schwabing - Vietnamese & Japanese Cuisine and Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Munich

I was in Munich, Germany for a day and decided to have dinner at QYU Far East Asian restaurant. The food was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was peaceful and delightful.

However, I experienced a few issues during my time at the restaurant. One of the waiters could have been more cheerful and helpful in taking our order and explaining the menu, especially because it was in German. Although free parking is available, it was hard to find a parking spot. The restaurant is not spacious, so I would not recommend it for families with small children or groups of more than 6 people. They only accept one type of card, which I did not have, and I stopped carrying cash a long time ago. Please make sure to include a "cash only" or payment option on their website. The tables are a bit small for two people, which is also a considerable downside.

The waiter recommended the duck which could be served with a variety of sauces including hoisin or curry. The duck was fantastic, with crispy skin and tenderness. It was served on top of a pineapple that was carved out to make a bowl and filled with red curry & vegetables. I started with a tamarind soup which was also lovely and delicious and a drink call the Akakusa; it was refreshing and delicious too. At the end I found out that I would need to pay with a German bank card or Euros. But an ATM was close by, so it was no problem. Next time I will check first and be sure to have Euros on hand. I really enjoyed my meal and will keep it in mind for the next time...

Qyu restaurant in north Schwabing is very popular; make reservations but be aware - even with a reservation you might have to give up your table within an hour and a half to two hours. There are a few outdoor tables and a few tall and normal tables inside. As for the food, the quality is very good. Some dishes have special presentation - smoke - and overall presentation is very photographable. Experience overall was positive minus the hostess who greeted with “you have to leave in an hour and twenty minutes” which was disappointing considering we went as a group of friends and we were eager to have several courses and to linger. Set a negative tone for the rest...
