Was one of the best places that my husband and I went to, until May 2023. I decided to celebrate my bachelorette party with six friends at the hutong club which, unknowingly to me, would start the worst month and a half chain of events that would irate me to no end. We had a standard 1 drink each, 3-4 starters and 4 main meals to share. When the bill came, I decided to pay it all together and then split between us. As you usually do, my friends asked me how much they owed and I said to split equally which rounded up around 100 euros leas than what I paid. So, my sister decided to calculate and turned out the waiter had added three dishes of the next table (different people) to our table. We politely asked him to recalculate and give us the right bill and refund the 100 euros. He told us that as the payment was down with Mastercard, it is impossible to return the money. It will be done in the next monthly cycle. I was quite surprised but to keep the mood of the evening, I asked him to give me the correct bill. The second bill he presented had drinks that we did not buy and still 50 euros short. So I wrote down what we consumed as a group and asked him to make the right bill. He asked me for my ID and my bank card to make a copy and give the bill in a document format. He ensured that it will be in my account in 15 days. No money came and so I went with my husband to the restaurant to collect. He (same waiter) informed me that he knew me, my request and had passed the info to his manager. 1 month passes and no response. I call them and I speak to the same waiter and he said he was aware it had been a month and I should not worry so much just before my wedding. I could hear his colleagues laughing loudly and encouraging him to say different excuses on the phone. This is where I lost my patience and I threatened to go to the police unless the manager calls me the next day. He did and transferred 100 euros and promised a voucher to compensate for the damages. I waited and no voucher, no written apology and absolutely horrible treatment of good customers. Never have to set foot again in hutong club and will...
Read moreWe ate at the Hutong Club last week for dinner. The atmosphere and the interior design is great and very unique, I am sure the owner invested a lot of money in that. The service was impeccable too: fast, polite and concerned. We even got hot towels before the food to clean our hands, I have never seen this in a restaurant in Munich before at that price level.
We started with the spicy pork wonton as an appetizer and they were far far too salty so that after one piece you really either need to wash everything down with water or you just stop there. As a main I ordered the crispy pork belly. It was pork belly, but definitely not crispy. The skin was still chewy and it was overseasoned again. They came on top of a mountain of also overseasoned and overcooked beans and since both tasted the same, the vegetables did not help to balance out the salitness of the meat. My partner ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and was equally disappointed, it was a whole mess of unbalanced too intense and repetitive flavour. And both do not come with any side, you need to order rice extra if you need it (and you will!).
I have been to Hongkong just a few weeks ago and I doubt that any good restaurant there would serve food like in the Hutong Club. Hongkong is famous for their unique spices and food there is absolutely fantastic. It is a pity though, the restaurant is really beautiful. I hope the owner will try to improve the dishes a bit, the menu itself looks...
Read moreReally enjoyed this number. Interiors are cool (could have been way cooler with just a few changes) and the food is pretty good.
It was quite busy when we went for dinner on the weekend but what annoyed me immensely was that the music was on such low volume. When I go for dinner I want a sexy vibe with music! I complained about this to the waiter who more or less told me that this was due to the Wifi issues they were having and ‘he’s not a technician.’ Seriously?! Dear Hutong Club, please turn up the music a wee little bit, we are not in a library.
The cocktails were very good, I highly recommend the coffee negroni. As for the food:
-Beetroot dumplings: these were WOW, an absolute must-order -Tuna tartar: very good, except the fried spring roll shell kind of distracted from the flavors of the tuna tartar -Lamb dumplings: good but not wow, the sauce it came with made the flavors a bit too salty -Lobster dumplings: good but a bit bland, could have been more exciting -Chinese Raw Vegetable Salad: this was fabulous, crunchy textures and unusual flavors that were subtle and interesting -Tender Ox Cheek Sliders: good but the bao itself wasn’t as soft as it should have been -Sesame Prawn Toast: enjoyable but not the best, so I would skip this also since I generally feel that sesame prawn toast isn’t worth the calories -Hoisin & Garlic BBQ Pork Ribs: I am not really a pork fan but this was apparently good -Crispy Roasted Pork...
