We visited here Thursday 1st October 2020. It is on Pfeuferstrasse and the corner with Spitzwegstrasse. The nearest U-Bahn is probably Harras or Impelstrasse on the U6, however, Implestrasse is one stop closer to the centre so likely to be the best option, it takes 15 minutes in total from Marianplatz, comprising of 5 mins by U-Bahn and a 10 minute walk from Implestrasse. Wirsthaus Tannengarten is a typical building from its period, large, cream coloured exterior as I recall with a Biergarten at the rear, it was late, dark and now October so we had booked a table inside. The interior was also quite typical in that there was plenty of wood, however, the bar exterior had some nice glazed tiles on the front, there was plenty of tables and seating and in these Covid-19 times, it was very well-spaced. In short, it is really quite a smart place, we like it. The food menu was a little more limited than I would have expected, however both our Veal Gulasch with vegetables and spatzle and Cordon Bleu Schnitzel were very good, they were both 17.90 euros. We had Kaiserschmarrm for dessert. Beer selection is from the Ayinger brewery and most of the core range was here with the lesser seen Kirbe (might have spelt that wrong) festival beer also, this is the unfiltered version of their festival beer. We liked it here and would certainly return I think, it would be nice to see what the...
Read moreThe service ruined quite a bit of the good food and overall experience. Communication was bad, attendance was very bad, feeling often ignored even. When ordering at the bar we were told they'd come to the table and when informing the staff we had been waiting, waving and even calling out, we were told we would only order one at a time (at a table with 10 people of different gender, age and arrival at the restaurant)! And this wasn't only one person's behaviour, but all of the 3 of them. Dishes were delivered wrongly - even telling them what we had ordered when they brought the food over; and immediately attention of us to them was verbally voiced of being expected. I felt like I was a nuisance and I should be happy they attended their service to us at all. Additionally they were serving the very delicious Kellerbier continuously below the Eichstrich in a Stein. After realising that after a few i had to let the head settling to walk back to the bar and asking for a proper fill. There was no apology offered, not any comment made when filled up a bit more.
Overall it was definitely worse than any Munich f&b reputation...
Read moreThe Cordon Bleu was not bad, but definitely not above average. The ratatouille was bad, mainly because the eggplant was severely undercooked. But the absolute deal breaker was the 30+ min delay, which came as a complete surprise. The waitress apologized and explained that they make everything from scratch (which certainly explains the undercooked eggplant) but this sounds like a bad joke considering the Pommes that came with the burger were obviously deep frozen. The place is definitely not worth the hassle, which is unfortunate because the staff was polite and the location is nice.
PS The pricing policy of charging side-dishes extra makes the menu 20-25% overpriced compared to alternatives of better quality and service in the...
