Amazing experience! Stopped by for lunch with my classmates on a Friday, the restaurant was nearly empty probably due to the late lunch hours and covid situation. All the necessary precautions were taken- tables were disinfected before we sat down and our waiter had a mask on. All the plates and dishes were very clean and hygienic, incredibly appreciated during the ongoing pandemic. The restaurant is located on Winzinger Straße, private enough to avoid the hassle of the main street but also open enough so it’s easy to spot when passing by- best of both worlds. Beautiful greenery around the entrance gate provides a welcoming and warming first impression. Maharaja accepts reservations, we were shown to our table and given the menus at the drop of the hat. I’d describe the general atmosphere as very peaceful, easy to relax and let go of your day to day worries. The tables were set apart with enough space to sit comfortably, also definitely classifies as child friendly. The indian style menu had an incredible range of choice including an option to customize your own curry dish which I thought was very unique. Me and my classmates decided to go for different variations of the classic chicken curry along with salad and pita bread. The food took about 15-20 minutes to come and was worth every minute! Everything was fresh and tasted delicious, the chicken was cooked to perfection and combined excellently with the mildly spicy sauce. What I find in Indian restaurants is that sometimes the spiciness is slightly overwhelming for my taste, even in the theoretically not spicy dishes. However, this chicken curry provided an exquisite blend of spice which was greatly enjoyable. The pricing was even above my expectations, for the curry, pita bread and drink I paid just under 10Є. This is an excellent price to quality ratio, and you 100% get your money’s worth. This place is perfect for any type of occasion whether it’s a family outing, brunch with coworkers or a dinner for two! I would definitely recommend Maharaja to anyone looking to spice up their...
Read moreThe atmosphere inside the restaurant is very cozy and you get the Indian vibe you expect. The design of the interior is astonishing, which gives you the “wow-effect” when you walk in and makes you want to stay for a while, even after finishing your meal. If you prefer, you can also take a seat outside and enjoy your meal there. In this restaurant you also don’t need to worry about dirty tables or dirty cutlery. Shining, clean tables and cutlery are waiting for you! Also during the corona time there are no defects and all rules are being taken care of. The next positive surprise is the excellent service. The waiter was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. As soon as we came in, a waiter brought us to the table and gave us the menu. We also asked what specialities the waiter can recommend us, and we got a detailed advice so we decided to take the advice. When we first got the salad, we could not stop looking at it and we immediately tried it. On the first look it seems like a normal salad at first, on the second look you start seeing the curry dressing on the salad, which already makes it look a million times better than a normal salad. For the taste there is absolutely no other word in that world that could describe this event because it’s simply a FLAVOUR EXPLOSION in your mouth! You will have never tasted this combination of salad and a fruity sauce before with a little olive that completes the perfect taste. This salad is a must have when you go there! Thanks to the recommendations, I tried the chicken curry which has a very fresh sauce with a combination of very fluffy and smooth rice. The chicken was very soft and easy to chew. From the taste you could already recognise that the combination of these ingredients give a very delicious combination. The price-quality relationship was suitable and the money was absolutely worth it. It almost felt like travelling to India and experiencing a new culture. The overall dining experience was amazing and I can only recommend this restaurant...
Read moreMy experience at Maharaja
Maharaja is an Indian restaurant which lies locally in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. I did not expect that it is as good as it actually is, because from the outside, the building looks very dark and not as modern as other restaurants in Neustadt. The atmosphere in the restaurant is awesome. It is a quiet place, where you can sit inside or outside. Personally, I prefer to sit outside, because the area looks nicer. For me, it was the first time I ate Indian. The food was tasty and it did not take them long to bring it. They have a grand menu card and many different types of Indian food, so you would have a large choice of what to eat. The menu cards are in German, but as well as in English. I took a salad for the start and for my main meal chicken curry. The salad was okay. I did not like the curry sauce on it, because I am not used to eating salad with curry sauce, but I think people who like curry sauce and eat Indian food common, will love the salad. The chicken curry was amazing! The taste was brilliant. It was served with fresh rice and it was not as spicy as Indian food normally is, which I really liked about it. The service is super friendly and asked a lot of times, if everything is good or if we need something else. He spoke English and German, which will be preferable for people who can not speak German. Hygiene wise, it was okay the only thing I missed were the sanitizer on the tables, because due to corona the restaurant should at least ask there Costumers if they need to or would like to sanitize their hands, but overall the restaurant is very clean. As it was already said time wise it was really fast, after one hour I went back home with no longer hunger feeling. Overall, I would recommended the restaurant to my friends, because it is the cream of the crop. You get your food fast, it is tasty and it looks amazing! What more...
