Gleis Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Nieder-Olm

Unfortunately this place did not make the cut for me on this night. The place looks nice and elegant. We went in for a nice dinner but neither food nor service was as expected. No one came to take our order until we actually got up to request someone. The waitresses were nice and always smiling, but got my order of drink wrong even after I pointed it out specifically on the menu card. I did this to make sure of my order because it did seem like that they did not understand German that well. Still wrong drink was brought to the table. The food itself was average. Flavours were all over the place and unfortunately it was just not tasting nice. I do not complain normally, but if I pay good money I would like a half decent...

Versteckte Preiserhöhung und nicht mehr so gut wie sonst, schade. Wir kamen immer wieder gerne zum Gleis Thai, weils einfach immer lecker war. Bei unserem letzten Besuch Ende November waren wir, trotz überwiegend leckerer Speisen doch sehr entäuscht.

Der sehr teure Papaya Salat (15,90€!) besteht leider nicht (mehr) nur aus Papaya, sondern ist darunter deutlich mit Eisberg Salat gepolstert. Das ist nicht thai und auch nicht korrekt. Es war letztendlich mehr Eisberg als Papaya. Der Rindfleisch Salat hat höchstens noch die Hälfte an Fleisch wie früher. Auch hier wurde mit Eisbergsalat, Gurken usw aufgefüllt. Das Gericht besteht im Original fast ausschließlich aus Rindfleisch, hier musste man es suchen. Die knusprige Ente ist lecker, aber nur noch hauchdünn, viel mehr Panade als Fleisch - auch da gab es früher mehr. Bisher, wenn wir scharf bestellten, kam auch scharf. Diesmal war leider, ausser dem Som Tam, nichts scharf, obwohl es entsprechend bestellt war. Auch das zusätzlich georderte Prik Nam Pla half nichts, weil auch das nicht scharf war.

Es ist schade, denn wir haben das Restaurant immer als bestes im Umkreis empfohlen. Das können wir nun leider nicht mehr sagen. Nun werden wir uns wohl...
