L'Osteria Nürnberg Thon — Restaurant in Nuremberg

Visited this place 3 times... twice alone (lunch and dinner) and once with my daughter for dinner.

It's a chain but nicely styled with a varied menu.

What I can recommend is the starter Vitello Tonnato which they have really mastered.

Pizza's are big so bring hunger.

Pasta dishes are varied but I wished the sauces were more creamy.

On the visit with my daughter it was Saturday evening and let's just say the service did not match the food. We had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated as the blond at the door decided to clear and set a table before giving us a totally different table next to the service door. We asked for another table but were told all tables were booked (at least 5-6 tables were free up until we left).

We ordered a Primitivo red wine and Aperol Spritz. Another 10 minutes go by and then the waitress who delivered the drinks said the classic line "the dark red glass is the wine"... it set the tone for the rest of the evening.

We ordered the starter Vitello Tonnato and 2 pasta dishes. Both pasta dishes were tasty but the sauce was just not creamy enough for both our tastes.

The total gag was the starter lol... someone had stolen/removed/ate (you choose) a slice from the plate which is clearly visible on the pictures... By this time we were just laughing about the whole situation.

Would have added 2 pictures of the starter plate to this review but saw no button or tab to allow uploading of images. Strange as its usually possible.

Summary: Food is ok but the...

We recently decided to try the newly opened L'Osteria in Thon, Nuremberg, located just across from our building, in an effort to support local businesses. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of disappointing.

To begin with, we waited almost an hour for our food. During this time, the server (lady who is very snob) assigned to our area appeared to be ignoring us, despite our repeated attempts to get her attention. When the food finally arrived, it was a disaster. The pizza had an overly burnt crust and was excessively salty, rendering it almost inedible. The lasagna was even worse—it was completely burnt from top to bottom. The top layer had hardened to the point where it felt like biting into a stone.

We tried calling for the server again to address these issues, but she continued to ignore us, seemingly deliberately. When it came time to settle the bill, she finally approached us, but instead of apologizing for the situation, she blamed us for not calling her sooner. This attitude was appalling and far from the basic customer service one would expect. To make matters worse, she charged the full amount without offering any kind of discount or even a simple apology. She then had the audacity to ask for a tip.

The quality of the food might be salvageable with effort, but the attitude and lack of professionalism from this server ensure that we will never return. As paying customers, we deserve respect and decent service, which were entirely lacking...

wir waren nun bereits zum dritten Mal in Ihrer Filiale in Nürnberg-Thon zu Gast. Beim ersten Besuch waren wir trotz etwas längerer Wartezeit – bedingt durch die Neueröffnung – sehr zufrieden. Dafür hatten wir volles Verständnis, denn wir wissen, dass sich Abläufe und Prozesse erst einspielen müssen. Unsere kleine Tochter hatte damals die Kinderportion Gnocchi mit Butter bestellt, die in ihrer Größe absolut angemessen war.

Bei unserem darauffolgenden Besuch bestellte sie erneut Gnocchi – diesmal fiel die Portion jedoch deutlich kleiner aus. Es waren tatsächlich nur etwa zehn Gnocchi auf dem Teller. Auf unsere Rückfrage hin, warum die Portion so unterschiedlich ausfällt, wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass dies die reguläre Kinderportion sei – ein Widerspruch zu unserer vorherigen Erfahrung.

Nach dem Essen unterhielt ich mich zufällig mit einem Freund im Bus über den Vorfall, als eine Ihrer Managerinnen das Gespräch mitbekam. Sie kam sehr freundlich auf uns zu, lud uns ein und erklärte, dass die Portionen grammgenau abgewogen würden – bei Gnocchi seien dies 80–100 g. Da Gnocchi schwerer seien als andere Nudelsorten, wirke die Portion optisch kleiner. Diese Erklärung war nachvollziehbar und das Gespräch sehr positiv.

Beim heutigen Besuch habe ich daher extra betont, dass wir eine große Portion möchten, da die Kinderportion Gnocchi für unsere Kinder nicht ausreicht. Leider erhielten wir erneut nur eine kleine Portion – für beide Kinder deutlich zu wenig. Am Ende mussten wir für beide Kinder eine zweite Portion nachbestellen.

Aus unserer Sicht sind die normalen Kinderportionen bei anderen Nudelsorten ausreichend. Unsere Kinder essen jedoch besonders gerne Gnocchi – und hier fällt die Portion regelmäßig viel zu klein aus, selbst für unsere dreijährige Tochter. Die Begründung, dass die Portion gewogen wird, ist zwar nachvollziehbar, ändert aber nichts daran, dass das Ergebnis nicht kindgerecht ist.

Ich würde mich freuen, wenn Sie dieses Feedback aufnehmen und vielleicht überdenken, wie Sie speziell bei den Kinder-Gnocchi eine zufriedenstellendere Lösung anbieten können – sei es durch eine optisch ansprechendere Portionsgestaltung oder eine leicht angepasste Menge.
