Being someone who has always been excited about Ethiopian food since I came to Germany because of a very good friend of mine who happens to be Ethiopian. Visiting the beautiful city of Nuremberg we decided to have a nice Ethiopian dinner at Lucy Restaurant. My hopes were high and even the mediocre decor of the restaurant didn't lower them. We ordered 1 Lucy mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian that comprises of most of the menu's in small quantities. It looked beautiful but to my surprise some of the dishes tastes bad. Unsure how to feel about it, imagining that they do taste like this, I asked my friend to check if it was fine or I am being paranoid. Two of the dishes were stale and possibly prepared days ago. I called the gentleman at the counter to check it if it was fresh or stale and he said he will replace it because it might be old. I was still looking forward to it and tried to enjoy the other meals but surprisingly the non vegetarian dish with onions and ground beef tasted bad as well. At that point I was sure this isn't the right place to eat especially if you have high hopes/good taste or trying Ethiopian food for the first time. The intimidating lady came from the kitchen and rudely said that she knows her kitchen and this doesn't taste bad. At that point I just wanted to leave and not argue because clearly it WAS bad and stale. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I hope they start preparing fresh because having a restaurant is a big responsibility and you are in a way representing your nation via food and if you are incompetent and are not passionate about quality or freshness you should look for alternative rather than ruining beautiful cuisine of Ethiopia. Highly disappointed and furious because they ruined my first time eating at an...

Read moreThis business took me back to Ethiopia in a heartbeat. The scent of berbere as you enter and many artwork, crafts, and colors of the land. Ethiopians are some of the most hospitable people I have met, and it was firmly felt here. Every staff member took time to make me feel at home.
I ordered the meat combo, side of gomen (sauteed greens), and a mojito. Everything was delicious. The Douro wat stood out as a good one takes hours to prepare and needs fermented butter to aid a distinctive note with some tej (wine). Dinner was affordable and memorable.
Run to this place as starting tomorrow they close for vacation and reopen mid Sept 2023. Located on a residential street just adds to the ambiance. Plenty of indoor and...
