Art Cafe — Restaurant in Rüdesheim am Rhein

I visit places as part of my #WorkFromAnywhere experiment. I almost always arrive by bike with a laptop. I want to see if I can get my work done and feel my bike is safe. This is not a food review post.

They make a Baumstrietzel which I describe as a cookie/cake combination. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and it was very fresh and nice.

The café is a relaxed, artsy place with cool paintings and sculptures all around. It was not a busy day on the Drosselgasse so sitting at a table with my laptop and writing out this review was a breeze. I could see other times when all the tables might be full of guests that working like I did might not be the most appropriate but I think the owner would not think too much about it. They even saw me on my computer working and came over to make sure if I needed their WiFi that I can use it. Perfect!

Me, in cycling clothes, helmet in hand and a bit of sweat running down my forehead didn’t phase them. All in all, coffee good, Baumstriezel a real delight. It was definitely worth the ride from Wiesbaden to visit the Art Cafe.

Only downside (but cannot take a point from the Cafe) is the bike safety situation. The Art Cafe is on the Drosselgasse which is THE tourist alley in town. There is no place for a bike here. However, the city of Rüdesheim does have a number of substantial bike racks available. Bring an extra cable lock to make you feel a bit more...

Oh my gosh, this place is absolutely amazing!!! Can I just say how chill the atmosphere was and the inside is decorated so artsy, we loved it! The employees were so down to earth, and spoke to us the entire time. It’s like we had known each other for years. The dessert was so delicious, wish they had something like this back home.

Honestly when I visit Rudesheim again, this will be our first stop. We spent a good amount of time relaxing, and enjoying ourselves. My kids who complain about walking around old cities, even had such a good time here. Everything was seriously perfect, but the atmosphere is what we loved most. NO CHANGE FOR TOURISTS, PLEASE PREPARE THE FULL AMOUNT 不會找續給旅客

The trednik is not cooked, writing this review because I felt sick after. Please see the photo.

Staff is not nice to tourists, they didn’t give us the change back but they give it to the locals. I don’t mind to tips but I would prefer the staff didn’t make the decision for me.

Also, there’s not indication for toilet.

In general, not a nice trednik, not nice staff, not welcome to tourists and not a good experience:)
